Ahoy!
I hope to post in the correct section.
Am I the only one to have noticed fps drops, lagging and high ping more frequently since since the release of season 11?
I already have Windows and Nvidia settings optimized for gaming but I feel that my game has never been so unstable :/

I already have Windows and Nvidia settings optimized for gaming but I feel that my game has never been so unstable :/I’ve noticed the high ping. I play from Hawaii so my ping is mid 80’s at best, but usually stays between 95-120. I’ve been playing game with high ping for many years so it’s something I’m acutely aware of. It’s not terribly uncommon for me to get ping spikes in games, as well all do, but during season 11 I’m having more and more sessions where it’s not a ping spike, but a sustained high ping. Yesterday 140/150 was about is good as I got, while 170-200 was the norm. Assuming I’m on a west server, which I should default to since they’re the closest to me, I shouldn’t be seeing sustained pings this high. If playing with other players that’s one thing, but while playing solo my location should be the only consideration when placing me on a server. One of my west coast friends noticed the same thing for himself, but his ping is of course lower than mine since he’s in California.
So yes, my ping has been high during season 11. I haven’t noticed anything FPS wise, though. I still get the same old great FPS on the seas, with lower FPS in outpost while playing at 1440p.
I don’t have any guesses why this is happening, but what I can say is that my routing is typically good to the mainland US, so I don’t think that my ISP is sending me to Wyoming then back to California or anything like that. All the online games we play these days are on either Microsoft or Amazon servers anyway, so presumably there shouldn’t be much difference with how an ISP routes for one game or another.
I'm EU and honestly can't say I've noticed anything weird here :/
I'm 1080p but 220% upscaled resolution, basically 4K, all details maxed out, locked to 60hz + using Reshade for replacing SoT motion blur, and added sharpening. Didn't notice any dips even on the largest of islands (but that may be due to arbitrary "low" fps, since locked to 60).
Regarding lag, I'm in the 50s. Nothing changed (again, I'm mostly in SS lately so there are no other players around that might affect the latency due to server stress).
I'll go out on a limb and make wild unsupported speculation and say that maybe it's a sign some form of anti-cheat has silently been implemented in the background to begin "watching".
I imagine that kind of thing might add an additional tax on the servers , depending on what exactly it's doing.
I have no evidence to support this theory , other than they announced they are interested in introducing anti-cheat measures.
The most likely cause is really Windows. It may be downloading an update in the background. Your AV may be scanning. Maybe you got 123114 open web pages. Maybe you are on wifi and 3 people at home are streaming.
Thing is since this is not happening to Xbox users it kind of rules out the servers. If it were the servers it would happen to everyone.

Just for the record use of third-party programs to interfere with or alter game files goes against ToS.
5950x 3090ti here. Windows 10. I'd suggest doing a clean install of drivers and windows, and then game - but the in-game optimization is really bad at outposts and islands, i can (maybe) get 70 fps on all cursed at native resolution (1920x1080).
I've noticed that the visual bugs and whatnot are getting worse (sea flashing texture, crazy lighting issues) and I really wish third-party optimization mods were allows (like sodium and lithium for Minecraft).
Hopefully that will be addressed soon, as the game is at the point where it's just bloated and leaking out the seams.
@look-behind-you
That's why Reshade has a built in system for detecting internet activity/traffic, and automatically disables everything related. You can only use purely esthetic effects, but nothing that's playing with depth buffer (which is a must have for any types of wall-hacks and similar stuff).TL:DR - thank you for letting me know none the less. Still, you might as well take a read about Reshade and learn more. All official Reshade versions are EAC compliant fyi, and with a good reason. Otherwise, I wouldn't even think of using it.
