Hunters call Voyage | Increase hunters call level + Distinction

  • @thegrimpreacher
I don't believe you are reading a word I am saying. What part of not finding out which meg you got until the end of the voyage do you not understand? That is literally RNG. You cannot choose which megalodon you get = RNG. RANDOM MEG SPAWN at the end of a voyage is RANDOM. RANDOM. RANDOM. RANDOM. RANDOM. RANDOM. How many times do I say it before you get it?

Also- I see people bringing up the fact that it says, "a CHANCE encounter" when that phrasing was CHANGED in 2022. Prior to April of 2022 used to read:
Bilge Rats: "Defeat The Shrouded Ghost"
Athena: "Defeat The Shrouded Ghost x Times as a Pirate Legend"

The reason the phrasing was changed was due to the adventure which lets you spawn the Shrouded Ghost specifically. The voyage I am talking about does not let you choose which meg you get.. and is still a "CHANCE" given the fact that you get a RANDOM CHANCE with a voyage. Besides, they could just change the wording again like they did in 2022 if this displeases you.

    before 2022

Now, please stop trying to derail my thread. I am talking about adding voyages, increased levels, distinctions, and an emissary + ledger for Hunter's Call and all you keep doing is turning this into a debate over something that wouldn't even effect the way you play the game at all.

  • For the Hunter's Call voyages - I'm thinking they can add sharks teeth as an item in the game. So when you defeat a meg through this voyage you get a shark's tooth with commendations for turning in a # of teeth. Perhaps the tooth is specific to the meg you killed too. "Ancient Terror Tooth", etc.

Maybe you'll be able to hunt some of the regular sharks.. the one's that spawn in the water when you're in there for a while. Perhaps also add different color regular sharks too to match all the different fish colors.

There's nothing wrong with my comprehension skills. I understand the point you are trying to make. It's simply faulty reasoning. IT DOES NOT MATTER that the TYPE of meg that spawns at the end is a RANDOM SURPRISE. Repeating "random" several times doesn't make it so. You can say it another dozen times and it won't make it any more true.

For what it's worth, I fully support the addition of more levels and commendations for the Hunter's Call, and the addition of specific hunting voyages for any and all fish, animals and sharks up to and including the megalodon and/or kraken. I think an emissary flag/ledger is probably not going to get as much use as often as some other people think it might be, but what the hell, go nuts and throw that in, too.

The only point I was making (and still stand by) is that any added voyages shouldn't count towards any of the EXISTING commendations for defeating Megs. Of any rarity.

And Rare agrees completely, hence the NEED for the changing of the wording of all TEN existing comms to be less ambiguous when the aforementioned Shrouded Deep adventure was released. As you so "helpfully" pointed out.

They changed the wording because the Shrouded Deep Adventure was not random. That was specifically spawning a type of megalodon.

What I am talking about is not spawning a specific megalodon. It is a random megalodon. Now please stop saying it's not random when it is.

  • As a new player, got the game late night on March 8, with 130+hr's in and over 200 days at sea playing as a Hunter [fits account name :) ] I can tell you that the Hunter's line is a red-headed stepchild if you will. RNG just on fishing alone is abysmal from what I'm experiencing. I find dive wrecks with no wreckers, nothing but splashtails and deep-sea fish if they use the same bait as wreckers. I find that in deep water it's not uncommon to have long runs with ratio of 1 target fish out of 5 casts (insert splashtails) and god forbid you've completed any of the sub-species as this multiplies that exponentially, each time you close out a sub-species.

As a new player with just over two weeks in, given the time I've spent on Hunter (a main? faction that can be used for the 3 Leg. 50 requirements), I'm currently lv 37 hunter as I stopped actively (barring one run if I remember) doing other faction after 5days as most other main factions (barring Reaper) are really fast. Given that I'm GH 25, OS 19, Merch 10. I believe if I had not touched hunters or only did so as residual turn in of found meat/fish, I would be close to 50 in two other factions, not sure but it feels that way even with twice as much time spent in the one. That's a really bad ratio.

Given how this is set up, if this is to be a faction like Merch/GH/OS/RP, I'm curious as to why it's been treated as it has. It feels like a cutesy addon, not a main faction. (edit) I am having 'frustrated' fun to a degree :) I think Hunters could be a fun faction, but it's mostly grindy to the point that it's questionable as it's nowhere close to the other factions in reward/time.
