5 man ship

  • we all can agree here we have a friend group of a little over 4 friends you have the standard people who want to play. But then you have someone else who wants to play but then you have 5 people and someone has to be left out but you don't want to leave someone out and then a whole thing happens. Who can agree?

  • So rare. Add a 5 player ship please :)

  • If it doesn't feature 6 cannons on each side I'm gonna be furious

  • It would disrupt the balance of the game.

  • I'm game for any mix up of the meta! However, I think that a more likely addition is the ability to expand the in-server guilds limit to 6-8 people. That way they don't have to add more ship types. Many will complain that this will disrupt the "fairness" of PvP encounters. However the current game allows a 2 v 4 fight (sloop vs galleon) which could be argue as not fair. It would also help guild feel more alive.

  • @wonderwaffle559 any new tool that Rare adds could impact the "balance" of the game. I'd rather they continue adding content that works towards balance. If they add a larger ship, that takes much more manpower to run properly, I fail to see how this would necessarily be negative. The more pirates on the seas the better!

  • I Agree!! They need to make Sea of Thieves 6 player. Keep the current ship types just adjust the player capacity on the ships. I know other people that agree with this and stopped playing sea of thieves because they thought it was too hard to operate the ships based on current player capacity...they didn't think it was enjoyable.

  • I actually really agree with this idea. Adding more slots for guilds to join the game together, but capping it prevents guild servers, which leaves some balance for the seas. Honestly I think the regular balance of "The faster it sinks the more manpower it has" wouldn't disrupt PvP balance, but I'm worried that 5 cannons might be one too many cannons, since the Broadside of a Galleon is already terrifying.

  • @delta-wolf-k9 the Beauty of an expanded guild in-server player count is that if you're able to 4 man a galleon, then you could have 2 boats! But if not, you could have 8 people running 1 galleon at maximum efficiency, while just skuttling your other ship.

  • we all can agree

No. I have group of 10 but if we really wanna group up instead of using our guild to work together. Will go the old fashion way.

  • Terrible idea in a game where most players are solo or two man crews.

And guild fleets, that will work great, not.

  • Nah I definitely don't want to see a 5 man ship. 4 man Galleon vs a solo sloop can already feel insanely unfair. A 5 man ship with like 6 cannons would just be insane. Maybe if it's only usable in safer seas it would be okay, but I also don't think Rare should spend time developing something that can only be used in safer seas.

Servers also probably wouldn't like that. They already struggle enough. Even if there were a cap of only two 5-man ships in a server, it would still probably be pretty difficult on the servers

Actually it's pretty easy to fight a galleon on a 2 man sloop...done right, the galleon doesn't have a chance

Imagine balancing such a ship? Galleon turning speed and going against the wind speed is a nightmare, that bigger ship MUST BE worse in those 2 things for balance, which would be standing still against the wind...
    It's fine as it is
