potions sot..

  • so basically adds alcohol and harvestable plants to the game that you can use to craft "potions"

additionally merchants will want to buy ingredients in bulk (alcohol cheep plants expensive) so if you know where its likely to spawn then youve got some free rep basically..

here are some of my immediate ideas

dragons breath: after a few seconds and a burp or two you start to projectile vomit fire for a short duration (tipsy)
Hair of the sea dog: increases melee damage by a ton and grants immunity/cures sickness and poison etc (super tipsy)
Loot on the Beach: Increases swimming speed by 25% (maybe 50) (not drunk enough to sway noticably)

duration will vary as sea dog will prolly last like 10 seconds and loot on the beach will last around 20-25 seconds (maybe)

dragons breath is predictable once you get used to it the timing but will charge up then spit fire for a few seconds and can cause chaos for everyone so be careful..

Potions can be bought but are pricey so use them wisely..

there are more pots i have in mind but having a ton of different ones could be overwhelming to gameplay so here are the ones i figured were the best to have.

  • This is not a survival/crafting game. It does not need potion crafting.
And more so it does not need ones that 'increase damage by a ton' or increase swimming speed until we look like bearded, drunk dolphins.

  • @nightmarewax gameplay isn’t supposed to be overwhelming. We’re all equal on the sea apart from the experience we’ve gained from sailing, we don’t need pay to win advantages.

  • I'd be supportive of the Breath of the Sea found in Sunken Shrines/Treasuries being an intractable item that adds some sort of buff with 2 or 3 uses and found more often in places, like skeleton forts.

Unfortunately it may be confusing to new players and cause problems if swabbies join your crew and start drinking your loot!

I think any buffs to damage dealing or damage resistance is a bad idea but something like swim speed sounds really interesting.
