Time-limited voyage removal

  • Ahoy!
If you've been following Sea of Thieves' Twitter, you likely are aware that voyages "issued as part of an Event or compensation will be lost when Season Ten ends."

I'd like to talk quickly about that since I've been keeping a mercenary voyage of the devil's roar since 2019, and whilst at first I felt very irritated about this, I'm aware it can be perceived as very child-like. But I'm not the only one that hoards such voyages, after a talk with Skulliah I thought it would be interesting to bring the idea of retaining some sort of legacy behind those voyages.

The idea of having their artwork as paintings was suggested, and I'd like to know what the community thinks of this as these voyages hold a sort of 'vintage' quality. I doubt Rare will choose to implement something so complex for what feels like a minority but it can't hurt to try.

I haven't done them in 3+ years I've had them....
I'm not going to do them. Or miss them lol, they were all lame and usually the loot got nerfed.

Seeing the artwork in the game, in general, I'd be fine with.

Giving the artwork to people who "kept" the voyages is a Non-starter. There was no reason, indication, or insentive to NOT do voyages and it's actively be keeping cosmetics away from people who did participate in any limited time events/voyages.

Even if there was a way to determine if a player did a limited time voyage (such as completed cosmetics, or old behind the scenes sever data), I'd be against gatekeepinf such cosmetics. Events were announced and rewards were known. Getting special rewards months or often years later that no reasonable person can retroactively earn would be a terrible precedent and disheartening to the playerbase.

So I'm not sure what you are asking for here, especially in the context if keeping old voyages for nostalgic purposes, but those are my general thoughts on how your request might be interpreted.

  • Most of these time limited voyages don’t work anymore, and it’s taking up valuable space on Rare’s side. So it makes sense forcibly removing them from players inventories, for whatever greater reason that may be.

  • I'm down with commemorating the removed voyages images as trinkets. Just free painting trinkets. No need to lock them behind anything, just "here ya go"
