I see only generic names instead of real names of ships and guild

  • Hello,

I'm new to the game and I have a strange bug which my mates don't have.
I never se the "real" Guild name in the menus, only a generic name (like for example "Sea foxes") and it changes every time I go back to the main menu.
In game, I never see the real guild's ship's name, it's again replaced by a generic name ("Restless").

I saw a thread about it without any fix : https://www.seaofthieves.com/community/forums/topic/156292/ship-name-issues-since-last-update/30

Has someone some help for me?

    Thanks!

  • This is a very common bug with the HUD settings not saving correctly.

If you go to Settings - HUD - Name Visibility Settings, and toggle those settings on and off again, you should see them displayed correctly. Unfortunately, it's not permanent and may revert again, so probably best to get in the habit of toggling those when you notice your ship's name isn't displayed on the ship crest.

If you contact support, you might get a reply telling you that reverting all settings to default, quitting, and then reloading the game a couple of times should fix it. However, I've done that several times and it's never worked permanently.
