Halo Collaboration Energy Sword

  • My brothers play this game and they were excited to have the Energy Sword from Halo.
As a old man, at this point, I was thoroughly disappointed with what they showed me.
This energy sword is a disservice to the Halo franchise and the developers should be ashamed.
    Just do it right.

He later told me that there was no way to 'Preview' what he was buying.
Ya'll the actual pirates. Leave Halo out of it.

Were you expecting a full-on laser sword in a pirate game? All the collabs have that ramshackle pirate feel to make them feel lore-friendly the halo stuff was no different..I especially liked the wooden cortana music box that played a hurdy gurdy rendition of the halo theme.

  • @foaly1228 also, you 100% can see what the items look like before you buy them

  • @foaly1228 you’re playing a pirate game, obviously there won’t be an actual energy sword…

  • OP; You do realize Bungie had to OK the energy sword model, right? Meaning the developers of Halo are fine with how it looks in SoT.

Also, did you actually expect an energy sword in SoT?

Also the 2nd, If you click on an item, it previews it. Something you have to do to even purchase it. So your friend either lied to you, or skipped the preview on an impulse buy.

  • @guildar9194 No they didn't. Bungie doesn't own Halo, Microsoft does.

Ok. My point stands, even if my info was wrong; The IP holder has to OK the design, or otherwise say 'Do what you want'.

It matters very little when the IP is owned by the same company that owns Sea of Thieves.

There still is a process to OK the cross-over.

  • @foaly1228

343 Industries, the current shepherds of the halo franchise where involved with the creation of the “cross-over” items (ship, sword etc).

It is clearly meant as the halo theme within the sea of thieves world and atmosphere.

If you cant appreciate that, thats fine its not for all however the way you worded it is highly Disrespectful and shows ignorance in how it came together.

The sot team have done quite a few collabs/integrations with other franchises (GoW and Borderlands f.i.) and its basicly promotional material to promote other great gaming franchises and they are all done while being in talks with the other studio(s)
