Could you maybe do something like make it so if you interrupt an hourglass fight your ship gets scuttled of something because the amount of times my fights get interrupted is insane
Hourglass interruption

Yep, @Tesiccl is correct. In the design notes they specifically mentioned they wanted third party interference. This is a feature, not a bug.
Even if by industry standards a PvP Queue that leads to Open World is bizarre. You can't really blame people for being surprised.

if you are able to go on 10 streaks you will be finde getting sunk by third parties from time to time.

Its not about being fine with it or not, it is not about me or you.
As a design, it is way outside industry norms and that matters because the gaming community has expectations that have evolved for years.
Also the design has inherent limits that have become problems. For example they cannot make any balance adjustments that are hourglass specific because hourglass is the same code as adventure. Day one they temporarily reduced the spawn of cursed cannonballs, that affected the whole game, many were not happy about that.
The stalemates are because any half brain can repair and bail faster than incoming fire. In other games we would call that "healing is OP" and repairs, aka "healing" would be adjusted.
But they can't do that game wide, casual players would start to get overpowered. To do that they would have to adjust all the ship encounters in the game.
I really like that hourglass takes place in the open world, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been upset about getting “3rd partied”. It’s happened to me several times; sometimes to my advantage, sometimes to my opponents advantage, and sometimes it really didn’t make a difference. The reason I like it is because games often use instanced areas which take you out of the world immersion, which may not matter to most people, I dunno, but I appreciate it. But yea, losing a 10 streak to some randoms taking advantage is disappointing, I won’t interfere with matches as a rule, but waddayagonnado
3rd partying hourglass battles is hilarious.
Whether I'm solo or with my crewmate, we go in guns blazing at both ships. Once one goes down, the other becomes the next target.
Sometimes they have a bunch of flags
Most times they have a TON of supplies.
All times they have a TON of salt. 😈
3rd partying is so much fun and I'm so glad it's a designed mechanic by the devs.
