New Throwable: Frostbombs

  • Idea for a new throwable: Frostbomb

Similar to a firebomb and blunderbomb, frostbombs will slow players, enemy creatures, and various parts of ships, as well as leave a small area frozen causing anyone, or anything, that enters the area to be chilled.

Effect on Players: Frostbombs will cause players to move slower while under the effects, weapon draw time is slower, though firing your gun or swinging your sword stays the same. To counter it, a firebomb thrown at your feet will instantly remove the effects and not set you, or your ship, on fire, and blunderbombs will knock you out of the affected area but not remove the affected area.

Thrown onto enemy ships: When a frostbomb is thrown onto an enemy ship, it will slow the area it's thrown on. When thrown on the capstan, the anchor is slower to raise. When thrown on the mast, sails are slower to raise and lower, and if the mast is down, the mast is slower to raise. When thrown onto cannons and harpoons, they are harder to aim, but fire at the same normal rate. When thrown on the helm, the ship is slower to turn, similar to the affects of a helm that needs repair. All have to be specifically hit or they won't be affected, instead a small area will slow players when they step into it. To counter the affected items, firebombs instantly remove the effects without setting the ship on fire and blunderbombs will break the items free to be used. Specific items have to be hit with the fire and blunderbombs to be set free.

Fired from a cannons onto a ship: Frostbombs will slow all items on the ship, as well as the ship itself. Though when a ship is hit from a cannon fired frostbomb, the ship is not as severely affected as if it was thrown, however the efffect is a stacking slow, up to thrown level rates. For example, when thrown, the helm is slowed to 100% broken helm speed. When it is hit with cannon 1x, it is 25% of the broken helm speed, stacking up to maximum 4x. These are just example figures, can be tooled around with. So more frostbombs hit with from cannons, the slower the items are. The counters to these effects are the same.

Frostbombs will not affect ships already under the effects of cursed cannonballs and skull of siren song slow.

Frostbombs will also counter being set on fire when thrown at your feet and will not apply the frozen area as well. Also will counter fire on your ship. When thrown onto golden skeletons, it will apply the rust affect similar to water being thrown onto them. Ocean crawlers are immune to the frostbombs and plant skeletons will instantly be given the rejuvenation effect as if they were in water.

    Interested in feedback.

  • @kickapooh I love tho I will say this will be way to strong getting slowed in anyways in Sea of Thieves is death mast goes down your probably sunk get stunned welcome to the fairy of the damned get hit by a cursed cannon ball and sail go up get ready to be bombarded by cannon shots slowing someone or something down is the strongest tool in sot having a bomb that can do that will make a lot of problems with the games current balance (love or hate it as it is) but like I said I love the idea of it but it needs a hard counter outside setting your ship/self aflame

  • this would be great if we could get a Arctic region to go along with this. it would make a bit more sense then just randomly adding it in there with the sea being mostly a caribbean climate.

  • Getting slowed in this game would mean instadeath in the hands of any competent player.
