In game chat

  • Hi,
do anyone know why i can't hear other crews while playing? They can't hear me also and normal chat isn't even showing up so i don't know what's wrong. I tried literally everything to make this work but no progress so far. And i'am pretty sure it got nothing to do with my mic becaouse i can hear my crew and they can hear me so i really dont now what the problem here is :/

  • @szyszus7280 Well chat is based on range, beyond that, open a support ticket.

  • @szyszus7280 Double-check that you don't have Other Crews muted in Settings.

Other than that (if you are on PC) you can open Game Bar and check that the correct Audio Devices are set:

    alt text

If you are on Console, you won't be able to communicate with anyone in-game if you and your crew are in an Xbox Party chat and would need to switch to Game Chat.

  • Go to https://account.xbox.com/en-us/Settings
Set "You can communicate outside of Xbox Live" to Allow
Set "Others can communicate with voice, text" to Everyone
    Click submit at the bottom

See if this helps the text chat appear. Also if the age in your Microsoft account is less than 18, I think it blocks some communication. https://account.microsoft.com/profile

i have both of the settings set exactly how u said and still chat isn't working. Also i'am over 18 on Microsoft, don't know what to do at this point.

  • @szyszus7280 The other setting to check is the sound settings in windows for the SoT application

If you right click the volume icon in the bottom task bar (bottom right, the speaker icon where if you left click it, it lets you adjust your volume), and then click "Open Sound Settings", you'll see a slider for your volume, a slider for your microphone, and then under that will be a title that says "Advance sound options"

Below that should be something that says "App volume and device preferences", click that.

This area lets you set specific sound devices for specific apps. By default they should be your default devices, but it's worth checking the specific SoT application (you may need SoT running to see it in the list of applications).

For me I set my output devices specifically here, so that even if my default changes, my SoT output and input devices do not

  • @knurd9369
yea but the problem is that SoT have a acces to my mic, as i can talk with my crew. The only problem is with other crews and talking to them.

  • @szyszus7280 My only other suggestion is way out of left field, but it worked for me when I had a similar issue:

It turned out to be my anti-virus. I had to add an exception for SoT and that fixed it.

  • @knurd9369
guess that's the next thing am gonna try, ty for help

  • @szyszus7280 Are you in a Microsoft Family Group? Try to leave by clicking the three dots here https://account.microsoft.com/family/home
Then check text chat with other crews again.
