Improve Gameplay And Adjust Safer Seas

  • I just got this game a couple months ago and I've already got the urge to shelve this game permanently. Went to a red tornado for ashen winds and to fight one of the ashen lords and had someone else roll up on me and kill me mid fight and just continue to hang around and kill me anytime i respawned to continue the boss fight. I get it's a pirate game and the focus for pvp encounters and ship fights etc, but the way players are it kills the fun and the urge to wanna go out and try events etc. I'm excited for safer seas but honestly think the 30% gold thing sucks. Some of us don't enjoy this game for the pvp aspect, and want to enjoy the game for what it offers with world events, quests, etc. It's hard to enjoy a game when you can't go out and try world events like that without something like that happening, and the fact we have to take the hit on gold just to have a good game experience sucks. Strongly advise you guys to take a look at safer seas and adjust the 30 percent thing and figure out something to make it where us players can partake in these events without getting decimated mid fight. Never been so mad in my life.

  • If it truly makes you mad (as you typed there at the end of your post) it's gonna be a tough game to get into and stick around.

The game is one that is full of frustrations and the reality of the shared online experience regularly gets people real fired up during encounters/issues.

It's understandable to be in a "figuring it out" stage, everyone goes through that, gotta find a way out of it though because otherwise it's gonna be a lot of negative stuff you'll end up getting caught up in.

Takes a lot of effort and maintenance to consistently stick around without ending up as someone that has a pretty unpleasant relationship with their participation.

  • SoT is a PvPvE environment, this is something you should have read before installing the game. You should have informed yourself, know that it is a very difficult game for newbies, that it has a lot of connection problems and instability and that its PvP is quite cluncky, but it is a CORE mechanic.

Safer Seas are NOT PVE SERVERS. It is meant to be a more extensive tutorial for players to learn the basics of the game before entering the High Seas.

Don't try to make the tutorial what it is not.

If you get robbed, you have two options. Get frustrated and quit the game or improve until you are able to defend yourself or sink other ships.

I've always advocated that you shouldn't abuse new players because it's not nice for them, now you have a safe place to learn to play until you are able to defend yourself against other pirates.

If you want the full experience, you have to risk getting robbed, even if it is unfair on many occasions, the game is like that and always has been. We have all learned to play by sinking over and over again, if you don't agree with this method of learning (it's hard and it's not for everyone) I think SoT is not a game for you.

Nobody is going to abuse you anymore while you are learning or doing voyages, don't ask for more because it's not the goal of those servers. If you want to earn 100% instead of 30%, you know what you have to do.

  • I don't think anyone with your playtime is in a position to strongly advise anything in terms of the direction game devs take. Safer seas is for you to practice so when you go to high seas you're more competent. It's not meant to be an alternative where people spend all their time.

  • @entombedgnu6927 devs and mods have stated already that Safer Seas will be launching as is and changes won’t be made to it regarding the penalty.

SoT is a PvPvE game and that’s exactly what you bought. If players are camping you and not sinking you, then that’s toxic behaviour and should be reported. Otherwise, it’s part of the game.

If it helps, remove yourself from taking what’s going on seriously. Once you recognise that your loot isn’t yours until it’s sold, it helps an awful lot regarding fights and sinking. Regarding fighting skill, the more you do it, the better you’ll be.

    Good luck out there pirate.

    Mmhmm...and?

Some of us don't enjoy this game for the pvp aspect, and want to enjoy the game for what it offers with world events, quests, etc.

You be getting that with SS

it's hard to enjoy a game when you can't go out and try world events like that without something like that happening

Oh no...open world adventure game isnt what you expected?

the fact we have to take the hit on gold just to have a good game experience sucks.

Well..you dont have to play SS...

Strongly advise you guys to take a look at safer seas and adjust the 30 percent thing

Its been looked at..like maybe a Year or more. Just be happy your getting anything at all, it could of been 0% and maybe only Tall Tales you could do. Be thankful for what is coming instead of asking for more.

figure out something to make it where us players can partake in these events without getting decimated mid fight.

Stay in SS, you be fine. Learn how those Events work and you discover you can complete them before anyone else arrives.
My thought tho, what would YOU have done if you arrived second? would you kill the other pirare to claim the Rewards? No? Yes?

Never been so mad in my life.

Wait until Life catches up with you, Real world events, Taxes, House payments, Gf leaves you, wife cheats, Scammers steal from you, Car breaks down and you miss a great moment in your life, Than tell me if your Mad :p

  • The game design and intent for Sea of Thieves is a shared world adventure, and it always will be. Those who wish to play in the confines of Safer Seas will always have the option but we will not bring the rewards and activities in line with those of High Seas when many of the restrictions are in place due to the risk vs reward factor that is inherent in Sea of Thieves - removing any risk means rewards must be balanced accordingly.

Safer Seas will act not only as a safe space for our Tall Tale players but also for families with children who just want to pirate, for people who want to play the game but learn the ropes and it will organically feed into Adventure mode, keeping the player pool there healthy and upskilled as they've learned the mechanics.

This is not only useful for new players but families, players with accessibility needs - the whole game suddenly become available in a way it hasn't before, letting them naturally progress to High Seas and being a Pirate Legend. SoT has grown a huge amount in 5 years and it can be fairly overwhelming.

The borders put in Safer Seas mean that to experience the full depth and breadth of the game you will have to hit the high seas BUT if you're playing with your family you don't have to, you can just enjoy the game and have fun as a family.

    Dropping anchor here.
