As tittle says.
When I go into the commodity menu there are only one of each commodity and no surplus of that outposts commodity.
Is this a potential bug? This makes commodity runs useless now...
Merchants are only selling one of each commodity and are selling no surplus
I noticed this last night while trying to finish the Profiteer of Sought Stock commendation (sell 250 merchant commodities at an inflated price). This commendation is now broken because selling sought stock no longer counts towards it.
You can still get the inflated prices based on the historically sought stock of each outpost, but its a bit more difficult as now no outposts have the 10 surplus of one commodity, meaning each outpost now only sells 7 commodities instead of 15.
And, there is no way to identify in-game which stock is "sought" by each outpost because the in-game books at the merchants no longer list sought and surplus stock for each outpost, it just says "These pages are currently blank. The Merchants must be waiting for new information..." Obviously, surplus stock doesn't exist anymore, but you will still get the extra gold for selling the corresponding sought stock if you remember what goes where or check an external source.
A bit frustrating that the patch notes don't mention any change to merchant alliance whatsoever.

All 3 of you submit an official support ticket. This is 100% a bug and not intended and was introduced with the update yesterday. Likely they unticked a box by accident or something silly, but they won’t know to fix it if we don’t tell them. 3 people reporting it should get their attention.
Here is the link to create a new ticket. Select Bug Report from the drop down, then Retail Bug Report from the next drop drown menu, and you can fill in the rest. Hopefully they won’t let this one go on for too long, but being that it’s end of the work day for them on a Friday, I don’t expect they will see it until Monday.

Based on the description of the stock book having empty pages, I'm guessing that whatever service runs the stock routes for all servers failed to start or is crashing.
I’m suspecting it’s because commodities won’t be available in safer seas and I think they ported forward a bit of the code for safer seas with this month’s patch, which broke a few things.

The commodity access is controlled by the emissary, so all they'd need to do is disable the ability to equip that. If they actually remove the commodities for Safer Seas, then wouldn't all of the commodities be missing and not just the surplus stock ones?

Theoretically, but they might show them still visible in the menus and just not purchasable, so people will see what is there for them on high seas. No idea how they plan to handle it all yet. But I meant more that it could be caused by what they are doing behind the scenes and the codes just aren’t playing well together.

I think that's the case when you don't have the emissary flag up though so I don't see the reason to go mucking about with the way commodities load and how the routes are displayed in the book when all you need to do is disable the method that allows you to purchase them at all which already exists :D.
Either way, it's not intended and will hopefully not take until next month's update to get fixed.

Well I was hoping to see a fix getting back on today after being offline the whole weekend but the commodities are still broken. I did submit a ticket, thank you for providing the link for that. I would think that a game mechanic like this being bugged would certainly be on their radar by now.@shadowdoc89 said in Merchants are only selling one of each commodity and are selling no surplus:

I hope it is and hope as well it will be fixed soon, but don't expect a separate update for it. If they found the bug and fix it probably will be in the December update.
@lem0n-curry
Just logged on and this issue is seemingly patched. The Merchant Alliance book is updated with all relevant Outpost commodity info and they have 10 sought after items in their inventory now.
I didn't expect them to be working weekends either but they patched this bug and got it working again so cheers to the Rare team!
