The Reason Safer Seas Needs No Rep Cap

  • Other than no Athena, Reapers, or the two HG factions.

Ran into a crew while running Athena's, and so were they.
We formed an alliance, because cool.
We do the fiery skeleton, and split the treasure.
Spent the next 2-3-ish hours doing our stuff while they did theirs, turning in and sharing treasure, and helping each other.
They ask if we want to do FoTD. Sure.
We get the Skull, we get to the fort; they backstab us for our 4 Ritual Skulls. ...After sharing treasure and helping each other for 3 hours.

This type of anti-social BS is why SS needs 0 caps on Rep, Captained ships, and Guilds.
Because of trolls like this who go out of their way to be the biggest bellends possible.
No amount of 'onboarding' is going to keep player numbers when BS like this is possible.

I'll gladly stick to SS, never make Pirate Legend, and just dump the game when I get bored.
Just to avoid degenerates like this.

Sea of Thieves: You COULD be nice, but screw you if you are!

  • @eguzky it sounds like you need to rethink what you were doing... you were participating in a world event, a literal beacon goes up inviting other to the fight. If you don't enjoy the betrayal and fighting that comes with that kind of gameplay, you don't need to do it. No one is holding a gun to your head and making you participate in those events and no one is in the wrong for trying to claim the loot.

Safer seas is meant as a learning tool for new players, not as a way to hide away from pvp. The reduced rep and removal of pvp focused events like the fotd sets that tone.

  • You don't need to make a new thread about every encounter you deem negative, and it doesn't strengthen your case at all regarding Safer Seas. In this example, you had 3 hours of peace and prosperity in your own words and one thing that didn't go your way at a player activated fort housing one of the most fought over items currently in the game.

You're missing the point where they literally strung us along just to get half-chubs by betraying us at the end.

  • It is a PIRATE game, an alliance does not mean that they cannot betray you. Safe seas need boundaries, otherwise it would not make sense.

The only reason it would 'not make sense' is to people who demand the PvP aspect.

I'm tired of my PvE fun being at the mercy of the anti-social PvP half that can't play a game unless they can ruin it for someone else.

    Sweaty basement dwellers.

For someone railing on about other players behaviour, you're the most toxic one in this thread.

  • @eguzky it really sounds like you don't like this game, and that's ok. You don't need to play a game that makes you mad.

That being said, betrayal and pvp are inherent parts. If you're not prepared for them and then get sunk because you trusted people that is on you. They are not responsible for your enjoyment they are responsible for their own.

There is no rule that they need to be nice to you and you don't need to trust them.

Could that be because I'm angry and frustrated, perhaps?
You know; after being betrayed in game by sweaty PvP basement dwellers.

I like every aspect of the game EXCEPT the PvP.
It's nothing but the PvE players being sunk, then being told to either suck it up or leave.

  • Started to try and clean up this thread but have decided to drop anchor instead. I'd like to remind OP that it is perfectly possible to not enjoy PvP without actively name-calling those who do.
