So I'm one of the many not on that platform. For the up and coming pop up plunder can we please use other social media?
Twitter x and popular plunder

It's not like you gotta "use" it though
I've never used personal public social media, I just bookmark it and check it if something is happening that I need for a cosmetic or in this case the plunder location
Since it pops up in game with an alert that tells me when to make a click.
In parts of the world, if you don't have an account you can't even view non-embed tweets (and it seems to be a moving target). So short of Rare putting the tweet in an embed here on this site (which would be more work than putting it on Twitter/X), many of us can't see it. It's part of the rolling restrictions there, which in turn does directly impact those of us who are restricted by it.

What about discord? My guess would be that the official discord server would have someone posting about it in some way.

That would fit into the "other social media" requested, which would work fine. But equally, just putting it on an events/alerts page here (event hub?) would work too.
@orloglausa I genuinely don't understand their obsession with social media platform exclusivity... it's like they want to actively not involve the entire playerbase and effectively exclude a huge portion.
Like...we have an events hub in game... USE IT FOR THIS STUFF.
Keep doing the social media aspect too. People are going to seek out community assistance and hints and whatever...but why would you not want to proactively get as much of the community involved as possible if your goal is an inflated trending status on social media?
It'll be interesting to see if/how Rare changes their go-to-market strategy for these kinds of things if X starts forcing a monthly subscription fee like Musk has been hinting.
Hi all,
All pop-up plunder maps are posted across multiple spaces - Discord, Instagram, Bluesky, Threads and Twitter.
The reason for this is two fold. First, using external channels affords us a broader degree of freedom with what these maps look like and the puzzles they can offer. We can deliver puzzles that require image manipulation or editing, and generally more easily create a unique experience that couldn't be as effectively delivered in-game.
Secondly, they create talking points for players to share solutions and show off the spoils they've found, which is all in the spirit of a Community Weekend. These Events have always been made to encourage conversation, story sharing and co-operation between all pirates, and the use of social for these puzzles encourages that.
Also consider that 'just put it in game' is not as easy as 'just putting it in game' and requires a lot more than most people realise, especially as these maps go live at random times, would need someone to push them, different art work and most likely a relog on the player's side.
Hope this clears up the reasoning. Dropping anchor here.
