  • Impatient gamers are partly responsible in SoT imo

People demand content at a rate that devs can never keep up with, they cheese everything in pretty big numbers and rush to complete things. The game is full of stuff to do and people still demand more and bigger content that development requirements/limitations don't really allow.

So they create event and mini-event type stuff just to cater to those demands.

If gamers were more patient, understanding, and reasonable about content it might help.

Rare does a lot of status stuff on their own so I won't put responsibility on gamers as much for that but the constant "we need more more more" likely contributes to some of what happens in this game.

  • @wolfmanbush impatient means that theyre not patient but why be patient for smth that is never coming back

On some stuff they do the whole "storytelling through cosmetics" thing.

Do I think it's great? not really, it just leads to what exists, people that leave the game for years at a time that have some cosmetic that they don't even remember getting or know/care about its significance as a casual player that popped back in years later. On the other side it enables a silly amount of elitism. It is what it is though, if people get caught up in it it'll lead to a whole lot of frustration and imo it's not worth it.

Now that there are so many cosmetics all over the place, in content people don't want to grind, social status giveaway stuff, grocery item stuff, I think people just gotta get themselves to a point where they come to terms with not having everything that is around and just focus on what they have that they enjoy.

It's a process but it's worth going through in the end, getting to a point where cosmetics/achievements/commendations no longer matter as much helps this experience to become more pleasant and/or helps people to play other games as well, without the stress of worrying about missing out in SoT.

  • @wolfmanbush ur right on a lot of things but lets say it like this i get it ppl dont want other ppl to have cosmetics like hunger tattoo bonecrusher stuff that had a meaning doing it that time and dont want other ppl to have its understandble. But what about y1 items that u didnt have to do anything that hard or meaningful like for example lighting lights around the sea to buy facepaints and other things like that cant remember any other atm.

  • @wolfmanbush
If a perceived lack of content is one of the problems in the game, why the heck is making some content time limited (or worse, actually REMOVING content) something that is being defended? Like, you can't just say "Be patient" when responding to someone complaining about FOMO. It's FOMO that helps create impatience, not the other way around.

  • @silverwing-525 FOMO is a self made issue by the people suffering from it. Patience is the exact response needed.

First of all, that is factually incorrect, especially when given the context of it being part of a product. Second, are you really gonna use that kind of mental gymnastics to shut down legitimate feedback?

  • @silverwing-525 nothing is getting shut down. You’re deliberately confusing criticism from Wolfmanbush and a different perspective for being silenced. Glad to clear that up.

  • @tesiccl i think there were over 100 comments and all were for it to get itms rereleased and ur askin for patience when all we got is guilds... they said theyre never give ppl only pve but look now they added a core thing and they cant add old items bcuz of a minority of ppl that happens to defend the items as hard as as a mother defends her child

  • @blindpinokio Everybody's opinion here and on reddit is equally worthless until someone at the top of Rare HQ decides it's not. (Regarding Sea of Thieves decisions)

  • @zig-zag-ltu ye learned it the hardway aswell

  • @blindpinokio I did not mean this as some kind of negative comment, this is just how life works. If your neighbour does not like the colour of your curtains and says you should change them to pink, you would not care either. ^^

  • Nothing wrong with Rare rewarding people for being around for those kind of things. Whenever someone complains about FOMO I just see a person refusing to take responsibility for their own spending. Yeah, it's a shame to miss out on something but it's a cosmetic in a video game. Get over it.

  • U only have fomo because u missed out by not participating. People don't get to time travel irl

Definitely agree with a lot said. If it’s a decent grind players do it first weekend and say it’s dead, or with HG “It’s too long or too hard” so they cheese it and then say there is nothing to do

  • i disagree to idea, if you didnt achieve this reward at the time. Im sorry but you missed out

  • FOMO is the only reason I play sometimes lol
