Sea Of Thieves Ambassadors

  • Hi!

I know there is a list of SoT Partners who provide a huge value of entertainment on stream and within content. They're allowed to do Serpent Sails giveaways and private servers, which is amazing. I have seen some SoT Partners who are not as welcoming and provide information that isn't in line with the pirate code or would be sometimes false. However, I think there should be another category as well: SoT Ambassadors.

These should be people who are welcoming to new players, willing to explain the game and answer questions. They should know the game well, represent what the sandbox experience is, and provide a wealth of knowledge to try and convince more pirates to set sail. Similar to Boatswain titles, these people should be willing to go above and beyond to help and create an experience for new players and old players alike that provides knowledge and understanding.

  • It creates a system of people that are doing things specifically to be seen. People will say it's not the case but it's as obvious as can be to people on the outside of it.

It already exists around the community and isn't going anywhere so I'm not saying that your idea shouldn't exist.

It'll be networky and always ends up with a lot of people going for the status over the purpose.

  • We have this, those are the players who say "WE'RE FRIENDLY" in all caps when you meet them 🤣

Basically anyone can fill this role

  • @wolfmanbush which is pretty much what bemorepirate is 😅. I see these social media posts and think someone wants a hat or sails or whatever they give away

These social games exist in every environment so it kinda is what it is but what is concerning to me is when people are used as pawns. New players are not there for content and they are not there to earn public acknowledgement. The same goes for people struggling that come to forums and the like.

People deserve genuine effort if effort is being offered. It doesn't matter who is or isn't looking, people aren't pawns for social media or content or personal reward.

That doesn't only apply to the "wholesome" interactions. How people conduct themselves with those they disagree with is as important as the rest. Principles of community service don't only apply to convenient and socially and personally advantageous scenarios.

  • @wolfmanbush one of the affiliate alliances which is a UK based Facebook group was responsible for one of my earliest and worst pvp experiences. As a new player solo, A gally chases me, mocks me and when I respond deems it enough provocation to spawn camp including bucketing me. I find out its the admins of that very group
This would have been enough to put many off the game but spurred me to get better because I'm stubborn. So that problem already exists. I agree it would be difficult to vet and prove a natural system for this, that being said the core idea is a nice one.

Look at the rumours of some of sot partner behaviours...
