So if I’m the ship’s captain and I am on a ship with guildmates and I leave, does the ship remain a captain ship since my guildmates are still on the ship?
EDIT: Let’s Assume we are on a guild ship that I own but I chose to share.
@coldsheep As I understand it a guild ship is not exactly a captained ship. They are similar but different.
@coldsheep Yes the sovereign tent is the guild turn in spot. All guild ships are captain ships with or without you. It does say something cool if you join your own boat though.
@coldsheep I’m going to say yes to this one only because they said we can gain milestones for the captain’s ship we sail on even if it’s not our own, as long as it’s assigned to the guild. I guess this would make it in some cases a non captained captains ship…confusing. This would supersede a non guild assigned captain ship that stops having milestones collected the moment the captain is gone (as per your predicament).
@captain-fob4141 the NDA is actually having a hugely negative impact on the game. i dont think rare realizes how bad it is. but yea in the youtube video they straight up said you can gain milestones without the captain present which heavily implies that a guild ship is a captained ship as long as a guild member is on it. the fact that in the typical vague Rare way of delivering info they didnt spell it out. they also revealed you have to donate your ship to a guild meaning you cant use it outside of the guild any more... yet they have captains week MONTHS ago where you could buy more ships at a discount... insiders knew about guilds for 7+ months now so they were able to save gold buying extra ships for the sake of guilds. meanwhile your average player who had no clue what changes were coming now have to pay up a significant amount of extra gold to buy more ships. though Rare did make it seem like a captains week would be happening again but yea thats besides the point.
if the public knew about alot of these changes ahead of time they could have given feedback that could have helped with the design process. theres another change coming that i feel should be made public with the release of season10 to give people time to adjust. i know people who havent even finished season9 plunder pass despite having 7 months so the player base fluxates from super casual to super hardcore so you need to give a lot of advance warning when you are going to make some significant changes. a 3 month warning isnt nearly enough
i wonder if the weapon draw delay was public info if the feedback would have had them go in a better direction to balance combat instead of slow gross clunky feeling animation draw delay. ironically the quick draw exploit only exists because when they added the delay it made it super hard to run, turn, shoot a keg skeleton when they spawn. so a previous change of having skeletons spawn with kegs impacted a nerf to prevent long range double taps that "felt bad to get essentially 1 shot by 2 guns due to rapid fire" yet we still get 1 shot by a blunder. now theres a delay pulling out throwables too. and now you cant speed shovel despite the animation cancel still working you arent allowed to dig a 2nd time until the intended duration of the animation. just overall making the game feel worse for the sake of balance. meanwhile they ignored hitreg for 5 years and only now started working on it 6 months ago? thats insanity...
Unfortunately the video explaining guilds was not specific on captaincy.
Anyone in a guild can take out a ship that’s available and the ship will be captained. The video said that others can progress your ship milestones. The question remains will the ship stay captained after the initial person leaves!
Let me explain, say I join your guild and take out your ship. I would be named captain of your ship. If you join the ship I took out and then I leave, would the captaincy transfer to you or would it remain with me? Unfortunately, this is the question that everyone is asking and I don’t have the answer. Yes you own the ship but once pledged the ship MAY belong to whoever first takes it out.

People who want to sail using guilds, probably will set sail everytime as a guild; so why would they need extra ships ? Only if they would want to be a member of different guilds and sail on their own ships they'll need more. They could sail on someone else's ship at first and then buy another ship if they want in a few sessions if they're strapped for gold.
It's a new season - I always keep some extra gold & doubloons in case there is something I want straight away.

Super casual ? If people haven't played about four sessions during S9 - that's not super casual that's hardly playing (which is fine); doubt they are interested in the items of plunderpass; if they would be they should have made sure they got the things they wanted before S9 was extended.
There are achievements and trinkets in the game that already give a solid incentive to have 5 of each ship.
You do not HAVE to donate a ship to a Guild, you can, and it would be helpful for the guild to have more ships... but if a Guild really is only 4 people no need to have more than 1 galleon, or two sloops.
Insider's isn't the QA department for Rare... they have that as well. Insiders is more of a stress test/preview build. While Rare does listen to the Insiders and will let those players influence changes, they aren't the designers of the game.
HitReg hasn't been something they have been ignoring for years. Hitreg is an issue a LOT of Multiplayer Games have. Sea of Thieves just has a LOT more calculations due to there being effectively 7+ different sources of gravity (6+ships, 1 world) a pretty insane water system, and every single shot both cannon and bullet are projectiles not hitscan... so it is something they have been working on for a long time and they have been VERY transparent about that. They just brought on a new team of people 6 months ago to specifically work on those issues.
I understand that you are upset by the fraction of a second change that the quick swap is going to remove, but if that fraction of a second is the only thing that helps you win, i would recommend getting used to the other aspects of the game... and while this change appears to be supper sudden for you... if you have been following the changes the game has made to previous animation cancel exploits, it was obviously inevitable.
@bloomiishh Yes you can take your ship out of a guild. It will appear on your list of captained ships and you can place it into a different guild.
Not sure what happens if you try to remove a ship from a guild that is at sea
