the whole reason they wont let us kick bad actors out of the game is it would create a negative play experience. but now with guilds being so limited in size we can get kicked out of a guild for not being a top contributor? and THAT is actually tied to cosmetic rewards we helped earn and now will be locked out from. this is a way worse experience than being kicked out of a crew because of being a troll
so now we have guild kicking but we still cant vote kick a bad acting crew mate?
@keylessword4029 exactly why you should pick carefully who you choose to join a guild with, and communicate with them regularly (via discord or however the GM chooses). GM isn’t gonna want to boot loads of people because of the 24 player limit.
I met someone who I occasionally play with who is forming a guild with only people he likes. He claims that I’m getting an invite. It depends on who whose guild you join. If you join a friends guild then you don’t need to worry about getting kicked.
I would avoid LFG posts inviting you to join a guild. They would be more likely to kick you for inactivity if you are able to kick people. Also, I didn’t see anything in Rare’s video about kicking members from a guild because of inactivity.
I'm concerned that guilds will directly negatively impact the potential of safer seas.
SoT loves the drama even on a good day in social situations so I could definitely see this leading some to have some unfortunate situations arise that go even beyond what already exists in the game for newer/casual players.
Which could lead to people just to changing course by going full safer seas mode or just abandoning sot early in season 10 before safer seas is even released.
This is essentially just an amped up version of an unfortunate open crew/alliance situation, which people commonly are frustrated about in their feedback.
From lower levels of power up to higher levels of social power in the community it is gonna lead to some pretty questionable decision making/opportunism.
@wolfmanbush unfortunately, most people are going to watch the streamer network plow through the guild related content while a plethora of casuals are left in this awkward "last picked for dodgeball" situation.
Hopefully, Rare developed some things IN GAME to make the content related to Guilds accessible to ALL players and not just those that take part in the social network outside of the game.
If they fail at putting something IN the game for getting involved with social parties and guilds, this content is going to be such a let down for so many people.
@wolfmanbush You know what, who cares if people play SS?
They still pay money, or count as a Game Pass number.
And really, at 17 players per server it is not like empty servers are going to be an issue. The other day someone posted something about 10k players, to which I had to remind them that is 588 servers.
Splitting the population only matters when you have huge servers.
Im pretty sure being kicked out of a crew cause of a troll or some one wanting to invite a friend for some reward would be much worse than having to join another guild to get your rewards back considering its probably easier to to get another guild than it is to get another shrouded if you got kicked.
If you are worried you will lose out, they did say you can be in up to 3 guilds, so if you contribute to all 3 and each one unlocks the guild exclusive rewards, then you dont have to fear that you will lose out on your items. And if you think you will get booted from 3 then that begs some questions why 3 different factions would boot you, but you can still start your own.

Rare cares, which is why it is designed to get people onto high seas lol
and ending up sticking to safer seas because of something like this topic contributing to it would be a negative all around imo.
One thing I would like to add is I think the 24 person limit is grossly low.
I have been in dozens of guilds over my 30+ years of online gaming and the reality is:
- There are always players who end up being inactive for a period of time
- There are timezone differences
- There are work schedules
- Kids to be cared for
etc. etc. etc.
My wife is in an "active" SWTOR guild that raids, right now there are 28 out of 997 online. Granted there are a lot of alt chars, looking at her list it looks like about 100 accounts (Legacies in SWTOR).
Out of 24 if a guild has enough to crew a galleon that will be average, 2 galleons will be exceptional.
So the low number will actually encourage GMs to remove members who are only semi active.
The number should be more like 50.
@foambreaker 24 makes perfect sense, if you can get your entire guild onto all your ships (galleons I guess) then you could have your entire guild contributing at once, all in a big discord call etc enjoying the night. Heck, if you’re lucky, all in the one server.

Unfortunately the server are still capped at 17 so it’s physically impossible to get an entire guild onto a single server. I don’t know if Rare is looking to fix this server stability issue or not. It was 24 players to a server back in the day.
I'm honestly curious about the amount of guilds that everyone will be creating, and not wanting to advance one over the other since it's not their guild. If you have a group of 24 members, sure you can have a main guild for all of them, but they're all going to create their own guilds, and only be able to invite a certain number of that guild (you can only join 3 guilds total), leading to the guild of 24 getting split a number of times. Going to be an adventure.
@foambreaker 24 is the number of players that can be in the sea dog tavern during a Arena lobby before the match starts. Hint for those that remember.
If we could kick someone out, trolls would accept your help and quick you out just before the turn in to let a friend take your spot. By only being allowed to send you to the brig, we avoid that.
To avoid a bad acting crew mate you mostly need to stay away from open crew. Make friends using the lfc- discord and create a guild with them or people you get along with.
