What I Get for Trying to be Nice

  • So today I hopped on to get doubloons for the roll dice emotes. I got onto a server, sailed to a bounty chest, sold it, went to a nearby skeleton fleet event, did it, left at the last wave, sold, went back to help some Reaper's doing it, and we allianced and multiple times I said to them "I'm here for doubloons." We sunk it, they harpooned the loot into their ship, I told them I wanted my cut and what treasures are in my cut, they were like "That's not how this works. You said you came here to help us, not for loot." Meanwhile I said multiple times that I was there for doubloons, and it sounded like they understood.

They attacked me, I killed them, then one respawned, I died, I respawned, I'm being fired at, I barely escape. They started chasing me, I tried to get away via hourglass but I couldn't because they were close to me. I got hit with a skeleton sloop, they got hit with a meg. I was busy fixing stuff so I can move when I hear "Ya having fun?" And I said "No, just go away you traitors!" And he said 'Well it's about to get worse for ya! And he started to attack me, but I managed to kill him. I somehow escaped again, for good this time, but I wasn't done. I wanted my cut...

I got a friend on my ship and allianced with a galleon that had a troublesome crewmate who kept attacking us, but he left, leaving only one on the galleon, who joined our ship in an alliance. We went to ambush them at a shrine, but they took off. We tried to get them, but they kept running, classic Reaper move, they always want to pick a fight and not discuss any misunderstanding if there is one and yet when someone is going to attack them they run like the cowards they are. This kept going on, we couldn't gain ground, and I had to leave cuz I've severely went over my time limit, hopefully my parents don't see that so I can play Grounded tomorrow.

That's what I get for trying to be nice and help some dishonorable Reapers and expect what I asked for!

  • Yeah, I won't honor any alliance with Reapers as a rule. They just follow you around if you do and follow you around if you don't. So you might as well be the one who gets the ambush.

  • @crowedhunter

Yeah I'm no longer doing alliances with Reapers unless they offer a good treasure. Also, I'm not doing solo again

  • You need to calm down

  • @salty-sea-jr

Yeah I wrote like 5 minutes the ordeal and I was very angry. I'll edit it

  • @devtryak I was just messing with you. I don’t care but the moderators here do. Just be careful.

  • @salty-sea-jr

Yeah I wasn't thinking when I wrote the post. Anger issues make you not think. Hopefully my next session tomorrow goes well cuz I only need 105 more doubloons to have enough for the dice roll emotes.

  • @devtryak pc or Xbox?

  • @salty-sea-jr

I'm on Xbox, but I just got the emotes like 20 minutes ago, so I'm good now

  • @devtryak Awesome! Good to hear bro!

  • @salty-sea-jr

Thanks, but now I have the problem of my mic not working in game after I leave an Xbox party

  • @devtryak in settings make sure you’re not push to talk

  • @salty-sea-jr

I'm pretty sure I'm not in push to talk, but I can check the next time I hop on just in case

  • @devtryak that’s where I would start broski! If that doesn’t work I’m sure the forum will help!

  • @salty-sea-jr

Yeah I made a post to see if I could get help

  • @devtryak Given the dubious reputation of the Reapers, I wouldn't necessarily call that dishonorable but I get where you're coming from, it really sucks when other crews betray alliances without a good reason other than to just be unkind since it speaks much about their character. Whenever I see another crew, I always tell my crew to ignore them if they're not bothering us but if they're close enough to us, or get in our way making interactions inevitable, I would try to form an alliance (even when I'm the one with the reaper emissary) because at the end of the day, we all want the same thing and we should work together instead of fight over it to make it easier. But I don't hesitate to defend if possible if the other crew is belligerent or if my crew unanimously disagree with me. But when it comes to forming alliances with anyone, always try to keep an eye on their patterns, if they're following you aimlessly or constantly running into you and they seem to not be doing anything (voyage, tall tale or whatever), drop that alliance and run because chances are they're waiting on you to be vulnerable and attack.

This is an issue since years already...didn't find any way to fix it ingame, just by starting the game new...

  • @schwammlgott

Yeah I already figured out how to combat it, and it's by not using party chat in SoT
