Guild Hideouts

  • Guilds should get a hideout. Like a hub world they can enter into the Sea of Thieves from. From the Main menu you can choose to "Enter Guild Hideout" when they're IN the hideout, maybe a new Port-Town bigger than Port Merrick, and choose which ship of yours you sail to the Sea of Thieves by walking to it In the hideout and pressing "Set Sail" when interacting with the Ladder of said ship.
Then your ship sets sail with an animation into the Sea of Thieves with a destination you choose like Port Merrick, Morrow's Peak, Sanctuary Outpost, Ancient Isles, ect.

And your ship automatically shows up there, plays a quick 7 second cutscene where your pirate ship gets to the dock, pirate goes to the tavern has a few too many drinks, passes out, then waking scene plays and you're in-game.

  • Something like half the size of Galleon's Grave would be more than enough, I think. But I'm really into having a private starting port to get supplies and do cosmetic things in.

But the sovereigns need to stay out of it.

  • A new port town BIGGER than Port Merrick is excessive in my opinion.

Maybe an instanced fort would work best. If guild leader happens to capture/defeat a fort in the high seas, they could ring the bell at the top for the option to claim it as their guilds new hideout. That would be cool. Especially if somehow we're able to have guild meetups at the hideout.

  • I remeber asking simillar questions on this forum waaaay before eny Brave VanguardTM cloud sail the sea. In that time it feeled natural to have some kind of hideout on sea.

    But.

Now I honestly can't imagine eny reason for hideout of eny kind (player, or guild) in game like Sea of Thives as it is seasion based game and our best homes are ships.

From pure utilitarian point of view I would rather see resources needed to introducte hideouts used for qol, fixes, new voyages, new player cosmetics, etc.
As for me hideouts wouldn't add much to game.

Yep you cloud personalise it a little be, run a little bit around and thats all. Dead as sing board in few weaks and that board at least feat nicley to the dock.

For chill time of browsing cosmetic or fooling around we will have Seafer Seas in few days.

  • @wavecraft-57 I think a Guild port would be cool I would say make it small tho for the starting guild one then as make the larger ones as upgrade that have a gold cost starting one can hold 3 guild ships has a tavern and shipwrite and that's it but as you gain guild levels it opens up and you pay for upgrade like shops and more docks

  • Dunno if it should be a case of a fully customizable thing. Like what Ghutar was saying...

    our best homes are ships

I do however think it could help legitimise guilds if they could have a hideout. Nothing special aside from simply being an instanced spot where the whole guild could potentially gather and hang out en masse so it all feels more connected.

If it was in the form of a fort like I'm suggesting, I reckon it'll be enough to have only have the guilds most impressive ship docked and maybe have the fort rocking the guild banner.

If a guild really gets into it, such a hideout setup could add a significant place to share with a group that's bigger than your typical Galleon setup. I can imagine a tight-knit guild hanging out with their guildies while waiting for a specific member to show up so you could set sail together. I can see a guild drinking the fort dry and eating all it's food. I can see people meeting their guildies and offering to help them with commendations or sharing advice, pointing out spots on the big map while the guild chef cooks up all the meat they could find in the fort.

The more I think about it the more I think it's gonna be an essential part of the guild experience

  • Guilds should get a hideout.

That why you have a ship you can decorate.
