When the Guardians and Servants factions were first added, they both came with mirroring commendations, many of which require sinking a rival faction's ship, that are necessary for many of the unlockable cosmetics. The problem, however, comes in when they added Honor Battles, the ability to match against ships of the same faction, to reduce matchmaking times. A good addition for those waiting in long queues for sure, but I personally find a lot of my time wasted when my main goal is to complete the commendations that specifically require sinking ships of the opposite faction, but I queue into an Honor Battle instead. I came up with two possible ways to remedy this.
Option A) We could opt-in to fight rival factions only, similar to how you can vote to fight a larger ship as a champion. A new option is added to the war map to hunt down rival faction ships only, with the obvious caveat of waiting longer in queues.
Option B) Just make all faction ships count for the commendations, whether they're a rival or not. It's only fair, since the honor battle feature was added after the PvP Factions, but the commendations weren't updated to match this new feature. If the commendations were to be updated from "Sink Guardians Ships" or "Sink Servants Ships" to just making both "Sink Ships representing a Faction," grinding for these specific achievements would be a lot easier without relying on a 50/50 chance to be matched against the Faction you're actually hunting for.
