There's still a feedback mega thread from two years ago when these were tested. Why were they never implemented? Wouldn't these perfectly serve the purpose of Safer Seas, while also giving players a new tool* to engage in PVP against friends on demand?
What happened to Custom Servers?
Custom servers have no progression in them at all, so it’s not the same as Safer Seas.
Custom servers are meant to be a creator tool, which is why only Creators have access to them currently. But your average user can be a creator as well, you don’t need to be a streamer to be a creator. You might just want to set up a fun game night for your discord, or use it to create cool screenshots.
So it isn’t really a solution to combine custom servers and Safer Seas. Though maybe Safer Seas was prioritized over making custom servers accessible to everyone as it would allow for at least some creators to make some content, such as screenshots that only require 1 ship and up to 4 people.
I still have hopes custom servers will eventually release to the general public, but they should stay as they are with 0 progression.
@abjectarity I mean, at this point what would the harm be in allowing custom servers with even just exactly the same restrictions progression wise as Safer Seas, since that genie is out of the bottle?
I don't understand, first, why Custom Servers haven't been expanded since testing was two years ago. and in the context of the Season 10 announcement, I don't understand why it wouldn't have been implemented that way. Expanded custom servers would at least offer something interesting to everybody instead of only those currently interested in Safer Seas
