I, and a few other Sotters, think that a good addition later on would be creating guild bases. The way this would work is that Sea Forts would be reworked to allow players in a guild who join a server to store loot. This would only apply to individual servers no cross-server loot swapping or anything btw. When you join a server a random inactive Sea Fort will be converted to a guild Sea Fort. It would have a symbol on the map and the flags would be in the guild colors and banners would have said guild logo. When you load into the server your ship would spawn with a key hanging in the captain's quarters that would be labeled with the Sea Fort name. This key could be stolen from your ship and would drop on sinking. Having the key on your ship would make all phantoms at the Sea Fort friendly to you and allow you to open the door. When another ship takes the key and puts it on their ship then the Fort will become friendly towards them and you will no longer be able to open the door, but they will be able to. The Sea Fort would also be able to be cleared, with increasing difficulty as more loot is stored inside (like an emissary). Once the vault is cleared the key will disappear from the owners' ship and be dropped by the boss phantom. Phantoms would get stronger and the flag at the top of the fort would gain stripes as more loot is stored inside. You would not be able to sell the loot inside the Fort but still have to transport it all. This system would allow loot to be protected better as a player would have time to catch up to the enemy trying to clear the fort and be able to intercept if the enemy sinks them and then tries to clear the fort. Also, you could bring back tucking, allowing players to try and sneak on board to steal the key and turn the tides. Guild members could also decorate their forts with trinkets and paintings similar to the way outposts work. Also, guild forts would act as bastions of supplies, allowing players to quickly stock up on supplies in peace and safety before going out on their voyage.

This system would allow loot to be protected better...So, why would I do this? Collect treasure, store treasure, allow other pirates to steal said treasure and I get... what for all my effort? It sounds like a convoluted way to lose treasure. If I can't sell the loot, what exactly am I protecting it from? I may as well just put it on another ship's deck for them.
@LordQulex I mean it's a lot easier to protect your treasure when you have a stall card there, and when to retrieve a majority of the loot, the people that sink you have to go to your fort.
@BurnBacon You're not removing easy money, you're making it so Forts become more interesting.
@D3ADST1CK I mean the base game is always gonna be SoT, they can't just change the whole game around in an update willy nilly.
@fysics3037 Ok, so I'll eventually be able to retrieve my loot and go sell it right? I mean, it just all seems so complicated for little benefit. What if my voyage takes me across the map from my fort? It ceases to be a benefit at that point, it'd be better protected on my ship.
@fysics3037 @lordqulex one of you change your pfp it’s confusing the heck out of me in this thread xD
