item loss upon leave

  • i recently crashed with about 4-6 effect balls on me and i lost them all, in my opinion items should go into their corresponding barrels when someone leaves on accident or crashes so they dont lose essential loot that could help a fight end faster

  • If you crash you can reconnect to your supplies.

If you just leave, well you left.

  • items should go into their corresponding barrels when someone leaves

What if the barrels are Full?

  • @foambreaker he’s very clearly talking about items on his person, which do disappear if you crash. If you’ve somehow managed to avoid this congratulations, but it’s happening is common knowledge. It would indeed be nice to not lose our equip when crashing. How feasible it is to make that happen isn’t known by us.

In that case it is a bug, he should report it. That is not how the game used to be.

This is incorrect. This has been the way the game has always been. It's by design. Or, if you prefer, it's "design by omission." It used to be that when you crashed it was too bad, so sad. You lost everything. You couldn't rejoin your session. Everything was gone. Some time ago Rare updated it so if you crashed you could rejoin your session, but anything you were carrying was gone. They never made it so you could rejoin a session with the supplies you had on you before you crashed (unless I'm really misremembering how this all went down originally). So, no, it's not a "bug" or something that used to work that now doesn't. Rare have never, as far as I can ever remember, made it so you can crash and rejoin with the supplies you were carrying beforehand.

I agree with you, OP. It's something that would be very welcome.

  • @burnbacon that's most likely never going to happen unless you play for the whole day lol

  • My guess would be, that people that disconnected for whatever reason and rejoin via the rejoin option do not have their previous items in their pockets due to technical difficulties to actually implement that. The devs are probably aware of that and are working on fixing it. Given that thats the case, I like your suggestion. However I would include a delay so that the pockets only spawn back once a) the player is reconnected b) the player lost the ability to rejoin either because he joined a different session or because the timer to rejoin ran out.

This would prevent potential exploits of that mechanic that I see by people "teleporting" supplies to their teammates by collecting them at places where they are reasonably far away from the next merm but want to get the supps to their boat instantly so they just alt+f4 to help out their crewmates.

  • @tangus-00 you are indeed correct, the supplies on your pirate, so max:

    • 10 cannonballs
    • 5 planks
    • 5 pieces of food
    • 5 cursed cannonballs
    • 5 chainshots
    • 5 Throwables

Have always been lost on disconnection from the server be it intended or unintended disconnection.

The supplies in barrels on your ship only get lost if you are the last player on a ship and you intentionally (read; click leave game) leave the session, this will scuttle the ship and all resources are gone.

The losing of supplies on a sudden client crash or random hazulnutbeard has always been a pet peeve of mine ever since rejoining was added as a feature

  • Andrew Preston has already confirmed on Twitter that they are working on such a feature. You can find the post here
