Substantially increase SoT revenue and popularity in one rather simple step:

  • Hi guys,

I really hope this message will reach the right eyes, so without further ado here's the idea:

Starting from the current sandbox base world of the SoT, remove all the sell/reputation functionalities and allow for custom servers.

The main 2 reasons and benefits you will get by implementing this:

    1. More sales!

People will actually have the opportunity to show to their peers who actually matter (in terms of showing off, ofc) their cosmetics for their ships.

    1. More fun = more players!

People will be able to finally fight off their friends on demand, discord servers could hang out for a server-wide drinking battle, dance contests etc, possibilites are limitless (unlike how many animation frames does this game engine support when many players are in one place, to be fair), a new breed of videos and viral shorts will emerge from well directed and coordinated ship ramming, shooting etc, which will create in turn even more awarness.

PVP battles between friends, hide and seek, treasures, events, fishing contests, record times for events clearing up.

But again, with one catch, disable all reputation/gold/doubloons earnings.

I think I wrote enough to spark your project managers and in their turn the stakeholders imagination and attention. I really do think that with a minimal cross department effort you can 15-20% increase you revenues and player base with this new cheap-to-go-live mode.

    Thanks!

Wish you all the best and thanks for creating this quirky fun pirate game that everyone can enjoy: from 8 year olds to very busy adults.

  • Ah yes, killing the game will make Rare rich! ''Amazing'' ideas from top to bottom.

  • Ahoy @tdr-player-1 !

Custom servers are already exist and in a deep alpha currently. They've existed for a long time, but only accessed by partners and developers. You can hear our team’s comments regarding those in our Podcast here. Thanks!

  • Yes, they should have done that a long time ago alrdy Imho.

I just looked the steam reviews, and, holy hell, like every single one who is "negative" complains how a beautiful game is destroyed by the toxicity of its players, and how you can never enjoy the experience because you are in a constant state of stress and worry.
And every one of those negative reviews has 100s of likes on it... i mean.. wow.
I love the game, dont get me wrong. It just baffles me how many people have an issue with its hardcore PvP core.

  • As this has been stated to be an ongoing item already in production and there have been several bait posts made (and now deleted), we will go ahead and drop anchor on it here. Thank you.
