I would love the option to go down to the Pirate legend Hideout and play cards with other pirates. Maybe be able to wager some of my gold earned on the seas.

@goodfella-dub pretty sure gambling in game would bump their PEGI rating, I think they’re trying to avoid that considering the audience the game is aimed at.

Obviously, risking age rating for a small side activity isn't the best idea. It isn't worth it.
I always belived gambling your in gold away would be a nice addition to SOT since there are some players that have millions upon millions and don't even have anything to spend it on anymore but the problem is Rare would probably have to label the game with new mature rating which would limit it's audience affecting sales etc.
So we probably won't see this in the game sadly.Which is just guidelines in videogames and not Rare's fault but to me makes no sense since kids are allowed to kill other players in the game but not gamble in game currency. Oh no no thats were authorities draw the line...ook then.

a game like this is just competitive shooting, it's essentially piratical paintball
a very large majority of people can engage in gameplay like this all day long and it doesn't interfere with their moral compass in any serious or damaging way beyond people just getting involved in smack talk.
Gambling is different, gambling is more like cigarettes, hooks people young and can have devastating lifelong effects.
@wolfmanbush I can see that happening and didn't really see it that way as gambling never affected me i guess.
I played a few games with gambling and i never really felt the need for it, but i can understand some people might as an example have one beer and be hooked for the rest of their lives vs others just don't like it.@goodfella-dub

(I agree with @Tesiccl and @WolfManbush about the rating of the game and the potential addiction-inducing side effects of gambling)Just my two cents, Rare has some options here regarding a game of cards: they could have normal games like Poker, Black Jack, Solitare, Rummy, etc., or they could come up with something more creative that utilizes the supernatural abilities of the Sea of Thieves! (I'm thinking of something similar to the game Inscryption, but without the blood and gore)
@lucky11 I think part of the additction probelm with gambling is when you lose large amounts which is what makes you keep coming back to try and recover what you lost so to fix this they could give out rep and titles as well as gold but only to the winner not actually taking anything away from anyone but just giving a bit of something to the winner otherwise there would be no reason for players to keep coming back to it.
We have dice in the game already to a certain extent and can basically roll them with other players for some random thing we can resolve through them, but for fun why would we?
I had a World Series of Poker that got an M+ rating that was only cards and gambling. Adding gambling will force a rating change.
If you want to play cards, find a card game game lol.
Or FaceTime your buddies while playing SoT and you all play multideck blackjack together.Please don't divert dev resources to adding cards

It's because when you gamble in a game you are really gambling something which is valuable to you, your gold.
Gambling is real and addictive.
When you kill in game you are not really killing.
