Make Molten Sands Fortress one of the possible FOF locations. It could basically be like the normal FOF but on crack since you'd have the threat of the volcano and the fire resistant skeletons. I feel like if they did do this, they should also consider moving the fort to a more central location within the Devils Roar, maybe north of Roaring Traders? Currently it's so far to the edge of the map that I don't think it would be good to have a major world event located there.

@unleet1 Make a ashen athena spawn there as well. In fact, make a ashen athena spawn at the normal molten sands skull fort too.
@the-l-is-4-u you kind of argue against your own request by admitting the current location is off-putting.
I'm not wholly against it but I think a lot more would time out there when people realise and can't be bothered to sail over.
It would possibly become the pve refuge with lower chance of being contested.

I meant it as in: I think that IF they do choose to put some sort of ashen FOF there, they need to also move the fort. Just like you said, in it's current location, it would just be way too uncontested.
I would rather them turn Molten Sands into an Uber Fort of the Damned... but make its activation require you to go to a couple different islands to flip switches and such... maybe require you to put a Keg to "Collapse" the volcanoes in the Roar, causing Molten Sands to activate. (This would be interesting, cuz people could use Kegs to deactivate volcanoes... but it may activate the Fort)
Have a new burning smoke Skull blend into the smoke billowing out of the volcano, which would be active the entire time the fort is up.
For the Skeletons have them be a new volcanic rock armor variant. Armor can be chipped off from firearm damage, or they can be kited through lava flows to soften them up.
Boss would be the ghost of Stitcher Jim, revamped from the adventure.
Have the Treasure be insane... like 2x Ashen Athena Chests, have a new "Chest of Eternal Flame" which basically acts like fire is on your ship already, and acts like YOU are on fire when you are holding it.
Since this would require people to activate it from other islands, it would give ample time for other ships to make their way towards it (Since it isn't centralized like the Fort of the Damned)... and if the volcano will be active the entire time, it would require interesting ship placement.
Also you wouldn't be able to cheese the boss with ship cannons or kegs since they wouldn't survive the volcanic onslaught.
