Adding a Server in Latin America

  • Hello everyone, I'm new to Sea of Thieves, and I've been playing for about a month now. It's definitely a very entertaining game, especially when you play with friends. However, I've noticed that there are unstable latencies when I play. Usually, my ping fluctuates between 130 to 200, which makes me think that I'm always connected to North American servers. Playing with this ping range isn't too bothersome, but it does tend to increase the game's difficulty, especially in PVP scenarios. It becomes quite a challenge knowing that other players have better response times due to their lower latency.

I've been searching for more information about whether Sea of Thieves has implemented servers in Latin America, but I couldn't find any relevant details. The only things I found were old posts from five years ago discussing this same problem that I'm addressing now. I hope that in the near future, this implementation can become a reality. The Latin American community is strong and has the potential to grow if at least these latency issues could be improved.

  • @s4irento Sea of Thieves uses Microsoft’s Azure servers so they don’t control where the servers are placed. You’re better appealing to Microsoft directly.

  • I have friends that play from Mexico, Distrito Federal and some in South America. Peru and Argentina i believe, they never reported a problem with latency or at least not commonly. But then again doesn't mean all people will have the same experience which is a dumb thing to expect.

  • @tesiccl It seems that there are servers in Latin America, specifically in Brazil, but I believe the matchmaking is always connecting to North America. I have seen that Microsoft Azure currently has several infrastructures in Latin America, but they are not yet available. It would be good for Sea of Thieves to expand its servers when these infrastructures in Latin America become available.

  • @s4irento that may be the case, all we can do is cross our fingers.
