When I try to go through the monkey island story, if I end up picking up one of the puzzle pieces early I end up having to hold the item forever until I’m able to place it on the correct puzzle but for example I picked up the right arm skeleton bone without blowing up the skeleton that annoys the dogs so now I can no longer progress through the story without having to restart the entire story aging.

Im pretty sure they are saying they cant drop items they pick up.

@red0demon0 I’ve had it with the hammer and the right arm, with the hammer because I didn’t release the crate and. Ring it up to the dock first it wouldn’t let me pull out my sword and break the rope so I was stuck and because the dogs didn’t attack the instrument skeleton first I was stuck hold the right arm, the problem is if you pick up a key item to early you are not able to progress further cause your stuck holding that item

Ok... but why can't you drop the item? Is dropping it glitched for you? You should be able to drop any items wherever you want.
In my last run through the tale, I also collected the arm piece before blowing up the skelly, I just dropped it on the floor near the corner wall where the skelly blew up and went back to get the food for the dogs.

...that's why you drop the hammer, and then take out your sword. the hammer isn't a weapon, it's an item like a treasure chest, you can't pull anything out until you drop it on the floor first
@red0demon0 omg I have realised that I am just massively stupid so nevermind this is not a bug, thank for reminding me their was a drop item button. (I am very stupid lol)

@sxdowgaming Puzzle pieces that you pick up early can be dropped, they return to where you found them after a while. This goes for all TTs.

It doesn't go back in the clock, it goes on the floor in the clock room.

Nah, I spent a good half hour searching for the captains skull in the PoC TT after setting it down someplace, then I realized it was back on the ground where it fell from the bow of the ship.
@sxdowgaming you can drop any puzzle item the same way you can drop a loot item.
If you leave the item in a certain place for a few minutes it will be reset to its original position.
Have done it many a time now and worked on every occasion
@sxdowgaming You can put them down, just like regular treasure.
If they are down for too long they go back to their starting location: So the arm will be back in the clocktower.
The third chapter of the story is about mistakes. I completed all the achievements of the first two chapters and the third too, but in the third they give me all the achievements except the "achievement" for getting all the achievements of the Tall Tale story. Although I have already completed them!
