What about an actual Mêlée island?

  • I thought it would be great to develop, next, a land arena where to battle for a variety of reasons... Digging and burying treasures or developing strategies with teammates, doing actions that requires 2 player to unlock areas where to get access to canons or other explosive options. Not only would it be fun, but also give a nice place for new players to develop their fencing skills.
    In the context of Monkey Island, and in the style of the old PVP waiting room, it would be much easy to introduce that arena through the story of Mayor Guybrush.
    That would be a solid rat race where all sorts of skills could be put into play in order to be one of the winning teams. Skills like wall-climbing, coordination, swimming, enygmas and puzzle solving, swiftness and craftiness just to name a few. It would be valuable to steal other players' treasures but also give points when you solve puzzles and reach hard to reach places. There are so many possibilities.
    While it'S written in the TOS that you give no credits to people who gives ideas you use, I'm sure you'll be so inspired that you'll maybe find a way to make me feel like my idea wasn't just a blow in the wind, but something rewarding.
    I have a whole vision of how it should be done. I'd like to share it in more details when the time comes, if it's ever to be developed.

  • Here are some more ideas for that main thread:

    We could be multiple teams fighting but also collaborating together. For each existing company, gold hoarder, order of souls, merchant alliance, athena and reaper... Maybe hunter.
    Each team could have items that are crucial in their own hands for other teams to succeed.
    PVP is at hand, but not too much or it ruins the progression of the challenge.
    There could be gates and other obstacles that can only be activated by the opposite team in order to let us pass, but if they don't let the opponent team pass, they'll be blocked at the next checkpoint.

    Let's call that a triathlon of some sort.

    There would be crucial moments during the challenge where it would be appropriate to fight, and to steal objects from the opponents.

    Then there would be moments where opponent teams would have to work in concert in order to defeat NPCs and bosses and put their animosity aside.

    That would be a perfect land PVP theme.

    Based on the existing tall tales and monkey island, some npc "celebrities" could take part of the challenge at key moments.

    Then there would be buyers at strategic places too. And places to buy crates to carry along.

    It could recycle materials from the old pvp system too, starting from its mini-economy system.

    I really hope we can see such a thing, as it would make tall tales matter for more than a single team.
