I think it could be fun to add a pair of conch shells to the game that redistribute audio to each other. So if you're in an alliance with another crew, then you can each take 1 and use them like walkie talkies. Or if you want to, hide the first conch in some location and then speak into the second conch to conceal your true location and confuse enemy pirates.

Cool idea! I personally prefer text over voice chat.
Many have suggested before, to have some kind of bird (parrot) to deliver these messages. Would be nice if one spawned on top of your mast and could deliver 1 message at the time. Perhaps a radial menu, with some generic messages. Once you receive a message the parrot could be making parrot noises until you acknowledge it or shoot it :D
