The game recently feels off to play tbh. I used to be excited to play SoT, look for treasures, meet players, plunder...
But now the game really feels dead. Treasure stopped mattering with how easy it is to get. Even the chest of fortune is not that exciting with how short a FoF is to do. Feels like the came was tailored more and more to being on the safer side for players, PVE was made even easier and shorter, loot is faster to sell...
Pair this with servers not having enough ships and a relatively large map results in just mostly boring gameplay. I'm not surprised to see so many major streamers coming out including recently: phuzzy bond, happy kraken, Mixel and more to express their concerns with the game and spending less and less time playing it.
As much as this is a game their should be a level of stress and excitement, I should feel worried when I have a lot of loot on my ship, I should be happy when I manage to sell it. I should have a sense of fear of every ship, always be on my toes. I want to have to think about where I park my ship, if it's safe to do so, try to keep track of other players...
The game has gotten so stale and safe to the point that the original idea for the game is long gone. HG is a great tool to excite players to get better at the game and push them to try harder encounters as they feel more confident in their skills, but the refusal to put proper MMR based matchmaking and appropriate rewards killed the mode a month after launch.
Adventures providing no loot and checkpoints being the only form of content results in most servers having 1 or 2 afk ships, same with tall tales... I mean they are fun and great, but they should encourage people to actually play the game and explore the world that resulted as a change from them existing, not be a chore to log on and finish.
Overall the game lost most sense of excitement to it, the Sea of THIEVES feels way to safe. We need things in this game to have more meaning so they are exciting to do! I miss that feeling of always being on my toes, caring about loot... It used to be so stressful to keep an Athena's chest on board, or the feeling you got when you managed to pluck it from another crew without them noticing, but now... Everything in the game feels meaningless.
