Part of this is Rare getting so involved in personality and player content for so long.
Content creators and those around content creators make most of the noise about this stuff on social media. They would be loud about issues either way but that buddy buddy relationship to some degree over the years put a lot of power in those circles for criticism.
Most players don't really care about most of these things people are fired up about in general and lately, not in any post a bunch about it kinda way.
The "good" imo is they are much more focused on the average SoT gamer now (largely season 9) rather than focusing so much on catering to social/content cliques
The "bad" is that there is still a lot of effect from when they were focusing more on clique catering. A very small amount of the player base can still swing some narratives around with effectiveness on the socials.
Small community status and social hierarchy stuff always leads to mass amounts of unnecessary drama. They never really needed to feed into for this game imo, that shows now more than ever, Sot Twitter is a mess and the organic experience is stronger than it probably ever has been this far into a season with low social media morale.
