21:9 QOL suggestion- Allow moving HUD elements to a 16:9 space

  • Hello.

To start off, Sea of Thieves has one of the best 21:9 support out of any game I have played. I DEEPLY APPRECIATE that the game renders natively in the expanded screen space without stretching and has menus that are made to fill the extra area that probably 99% of people will never see. Thank you.

However, when I do want to do content creation, I have to crop my 21:9 image into 16:9. This is relatively simple in most cases. It makes any content I want to dump onto Youtube more viewable for those on the most common resolution ratio in the world. Most games I've played will either black box the extra space, stretch the image, or render it natively. I think SOT is the only game where the HUD elements are locked onto the edges of the screen instead of locked into a 16:9 space, even on a 21:9 monitor. This means that any content I want to create will crop the HUD elements for my health/ammo counts entirely off the screen.

See this example: 21 vs 16

My suggestion is simple. Please allow an option for those of us with 21:9 (and beyond) monitors move their HUD elements into a 16:9 space. This would improve a game with great 21:9 support even further.

    Thank you.
