The Breaths of The Sea Update

  • Ahoy mateys, today I would like to talk with you about the Breath of The Sea.
The Breath of The Sea is a very rare, almost legendary treasure, which can be found only inside of any Siren Shrines or Siren Treasuries during an active Secret of The Sea Quests, which can be obtained only by Corral Message in a Bottle.
Lots and lots of pirates didn't know that and didn't want to do such voyage just because they don't understand a real value of such treasure.
It's not only an expensive treasure for which all trading companies would fetch a pretty penny, they also encourage pirates to dive below the waves and discover mysteries, legends and a beautiful architecture of Siren Shrines and Treasuries.
However, in my opinion, because they are available only via a Voyage, which can be obtained only from Corral Message in the Bottle they are not that popular. Therefore I propose such options to improve this treasure to bring it's previous glory:
I - Increase selling price. The Breaths of The Sea used to be sold at this price: Sapphire - 4,000 gold, Emerald - 6,000 gold, Ruby - 8,000 gold. Now they can be sold at such price: Sapphire - 1,000 gold, Emerald- 1,500 gold, Ruby - 2,000 gold. I propose to bring back their previous selling price to make them more valuable than Siren Gems & Gemstones, since Breaths of The Sea are more rare and harder to get than them.
II - Jackpot!. When destroying Cursed Siren Statues they will drop the valuable gemstone. But, they may be compromised and instead of I gemstone, Ye can get up to III. I propose the same thing for Secrets of the Sea Quests. Instead of having just I Breath of The Sea as a reward for completing such voyage, give a chance to find up to III Breaths of The Sea. (Increased with +I for each voyage to the same Siren Shrine or Treasurie).
III - Quest Board. Allow such voyages to be posted on Quest Board. To post it, will cost 10 dobloons. To take such voyage pirates will need to pay 30 dobloons, which then will be given to a pirate who posted such voyage. Such change will not only bring an interest to Breaths of The Sea, but also to Quest Board.
That's it. If you have any comments, concerns, changes you want to add or remove, then leave your comment below. Otherwise, I wish you to have a nice day or night and I will see you on the seas.

    With Best Regards,

    Selgewick The Seaman

  • Or option 4, sell voyages for them for doubloons

  • Or have BotS be a rare drop from Mermaid Statues

  • If the value is increased they should stay as they are. Random, requires a trip to the bottom. I literally had 2 Coral Bottles side by side on a beach...

  • @soulstinger2k20 Sorry mate, but space in Mermaid's Statues are already occupied by 1-3 mermaid gems.

  • @pithyrumble First, I would agree to disagree. Second, ye must be incredibly lucky to have two Coral Messages in Bottle at the same bay, next to each other.

  • If you want breaths of the sea to become more popular, and something worth leaving your boat for, there's one simple answer: be able to sell them to the stranger.

Make them the only "gem" type treasure athena takes and you can bet pirates will search for those bottles.

Honorable mention to posting them on the quest board, if that paid doubloons I'd use it for sure.

  • I wasn't aware they lowered the value of Breath of the Seas?? Someone should update the Wiki if that's the case.

Playing my alternate account to get the level 43 pluder pass hair lol. They were both for Shrine of Tribute.

  • i love the diving for the bottles. i have completed a long time ago the quest of selling 30 breaths, but if happens a shrine/treasury with one of them, i still dive to get them. if there's a tracking mode probably i have sell at least 60 of them. they are not legendary, or a myth, they are just rare, you have to sto doing what you do if you find one bottle. increasing the selling price doesn't affect the rarity to find the bottles, more of that, is not about the gold, you can litterally do with a red one almost 20.000, btw it doesn't matter the gold you get, but the fact you have to find them.

more of that, do you know how many people attack me while i am underwather? counting since the release of the shrines/terasuries i am about a Zero. with a friends we sunked because the fort nearby attacked us and we didn't realize that, i am sure that it was this way because we were grade 5 Gold hoarders, if someone sunk us i am pretty sure that he/they will grab at least the flag, but it was all there, floating. Of course you have to check the area before diving, checking if there's no one nearby and do the shrine in the fastest way possible. if you are a solo slooper i suggest you to avoid the terasuries, maybe you can try the one on the top-left of the map, but because the terasuries have 12-13 rounds, it could be a little bit longer and more dangerous to leave unprotected the ship

  • @pithyrumble i have the similiar luck, in this situation https://www.xbox.com/play/media/SUPFVUEW6Z

  • @pithyrumble Nice.

  • @realstyli Pre-last time I sold 'em (it was like few weeks or months ago) they were equal in selling price to gems, but last time I sold them ( it was last week) they were at their selling price. Therefore nothing to worry about. Wiki is accurate.

  • they could also be drank to give water boost and breathing until next death. seems fair, and would make it an amazing boarding tool. lets say as fast as a sloop going AGAINST the wind. maybe rowboat speed. idk.

  • It’s crazy how Rare is so frugal when it comes to the gold value of the best treasures.

The following is what I think the base gold values of high value treasures should be.

Box of Wondrous Secrets - 200k gold

Chest of Fortune - 100k gold
    Reaper’s Bounty - 100k gold

    Breaths of the Sea
    Ruby - 50k gold
    Emerald - 30k gold
    Sapphire - 15k gold

Chest of Ancient Tributes - 25-35k gold
    Stronghold Chest - 6-12k gold

Ashen Winds Skull - 15-25k gold
    Stronghold Skull - 8-15k gold
Captain Skull of the Damned - 6-12k gold

    Bone Dust - 6-12k gold

I promise you making the best loot in the game feel super important and valuable again will increase both excitement and anxiety, enhancing that roller coaster of emotions that Sea of Thieves is known to cause.
