A win for the little guys

  • Yesterday evening, my crew and I set sails on our Galleon for a Fort of Fortune.

While working our way up to the Ashen general, we noticed a Sloop coming up our way.
We're used to seldom sink as we know our ways around our vessel and typically don't fear the little guys. They can be pesky, but are rarely a threat. So we simply prepare for a quick fight, without much thought. And indeed they sunk fast while attempting to hide on the island.
By the time we dealt with them, another sloop came, and started regularly sending their crew to the fort, hoping to make a play that never materialized. That slowed us down though, giving the time for yet another sloop and a brigantine to come join the mayhem. Coming one at a time, they weren't a threat yet, but they ended up negotiating among themselves and soon an alliance was formed.

When we noticed that the situation had changed, it was too late. 3 Sloops and a Brigantine, all harboring a yellow flag, were coming from all possible angles. We managed to put up a good fight, tanking the shots, killing boarders that would never stop coming back, but it was just a matter of time before they overwhelmed us, and the ship was lost.

We came back after dusting ourselves up, in the hope that their new formed alliance was uneasy, but it was anything but and our limited supplies didn't allow much resistance as we quickly ran out of planks.

It was a win for the little guys, and it was glorious ! :D
