Female Skelton Cures

  • Good day Pirates,

Ok as I stood with my Skelton curse it dawned on me. That my friends female Pirate on the Seas would have no cures that would represent her Pirate. We talked about it I have to agree there should be a female Pirate maybe a pink colored skin and a head with a ponytail or something. What do you guys think please add suggestions.

  • Skeleton with coconuts strapped on?

    lol?

But yes your point is valid.

  • Are you... are you saying the skeletons are all male?

I dunno if you know this, but inside of all of us there's a skeleton RIGHT NOW!!! (AAAAHHHHHHHHH scary!) [joke]

I could see a ponytail as one of the cosmetic variation, as there is one with a beard, but ponytails aren't explicitly female anyway. Also neither is pink. There is a lower-body variant with a skirt, but guys can wear skirts, too (see: Harry Styles).

I think representation is great, but seeing all the skeletons as male I think is only due to inherent sexism. There's nothing "male" about the skeletons (except maybe the beard, but bearded ladies can be a thing, too). Most of the variants are pretty gender-neutral, although if you go toward more traditionally feminine colors there is the "sunken bones" variant for the skull. Otherwise it is mostly: wearing a barrel, being filled with a crab, having a bucket on your head, etc. All fairly gender-neutral things.

  • Slippery slope imo

    YAS I LOVE IT!

  • yeah, I don't think that would work with that intention.

I wouldn't mind if they added hair and beard customizations though, it really sucks that pretty much every known skeleton lord HAS hair and we don't.

  • I don't see any problem with offering more effeminate skeleton cosmetics for any pirate that would want to don it. Inclusivity is a-ok in my book.

But like, ok I did not do well in high school biology so bear with me, AFAIK the only difference between male and female skeletons are that women have wider hips, right?

I would not be shocked in they had this detail implemented, but on the other hand, is someone really going to stop and stare at a skeleton's hips long enough to see if the pirate was male or female?

Pelvises, yes. That's more or less the case, although there are minor differences in proportions, etc. In general women have smaller skulls, although that's not 100% given. Most people would not be able to tell a male skeleton from a female one.

IME, most radiographers would not be able to 100% accurately differentiate a human skeleton between male & female, without seeing xrays of the pelvis or chest. There are so many normal variants, it can be tricky to pick.
So here in SoT, I'd consider them genderless

I find it funny that the lords DO have hair, with no skin. But SoT is make believe, so there's that.
I just imagine Greymarrow wearing a strap-on beard like a shopping centre Santa.

  • An idea would be "shaders of different colors so people can customize their skeleton how they want!"

Not "Have there be pink because pink = girls."

Also, jumping to questioning @Tesiccl's mental health based on them not bowing to 1950's stereotypes? That's just not something we should do. Mental health isn't something to throw around as a back-handed insult. It makes people who DO have mental health concerns feel lesser because of forces they cannot control and you looking down on them.

  • What does a female skeleton look like?

I cannot imagine a base skeleton will have too much different between the two primary sexes. That's not saying that this isn't worth supporting, but you're now asking for cosmetics that are supposed to make a skeleton very noticeably feminine, and from what I've been hearing: you get no cosmetics when you obtain the skeleton curse, and have to clear commendations with the skeleton curse equipped to purchase more from the bonesmith.

If there desperately needs to be a feminine form to skeletons, the devs will put it in, but I don't think it's looking like that big of a deal at the current moment, since a large chunk of the playerbase doesn't have access to these cosmetics in the first place.

  • @lt-robinson25 You do realize that the only difference between male and female skeletons are very subtle. Male bones are typically a little bit more robust and there are some things you can check in the skull and pelvis but for the average viewer they are identical.

Also the whole "Pink and Blue" being synonymous with "Girl and Boy" is very antiquated. I know plenty of guys who wear pink, and many a girl who refuse to wear anything pink. While I do agree that there should be more customization for the skeleton curse, having things be tailored for a specific gender is not how the game has operated at all, especially since there aren't any gender descriptors in the game apart from NPC text/dialogue.

  • @reverend-toast

Captain Brigsy looks like other skeletons. However, they chose to give the Duchess curves on her upper chest....so there's room.

  • In general I think they should add a customized pirate bandana and eventually a custom hat and/or boots

it can be pink it can be blue it can be a rainbow it can be whatever someone likes

then people can further customize their bandana/hat/boots based on their play style

if someone is an HGer, if someone is a hunter, a farmer, a roleplayer, adventurer, whatever it may be, they can add decorations based on that play style.

this can be applied on anything and under hats so it can be seen or slightly seen at any time.

and also a bandana can be tied to an arm or used around the neck or tied around the boots/leg

I always thought the Short-Fuse skull looked like a ponytail.

I wish there were more colors for the curse as well; you should, at the very least, be able to cosplay as any of the skeleton types in the game. There's no shadow skeleton cosmetics and only the verdant bones for plant skeletons. You can't put the literal reaper uniform on as a skeleton. There's no hair to choose from. You also can't really look like a captain skeleton.

I like the difficulty that they put the skeleton curse behind, but it's too good an excuse to never touch it again. Rare gave skeletons half the cosmetics they deserved, said they'd add more if skeleton was well-supported, and now HG is a long-term failure due (imo) to the initial matchmaking failures pushing less-skilled players away from the mode (if the matchmaking was perfect to begin with, the less-skilled players would have been fighting more less-skilled players, resulting in more long-term engagement as those players wouldn't have gone on such harsh loss streaks to begin with). There's not a good reason to add more skeleton cosmetics at the moment. Especially with same-faction battles balancing things out for Guardians.

  • It’s a skeleton, how can you differ between male and female skeletons? A pink colored skeleton doesn’t seem like the right solution to this problem.

  • @lt-robinson25 there needs to be a cure for it? Sorry, that had to be...because you wrote it both times...😉

  • @tybald she is wearing a corset top… so that is a different ask that what was suggested above… so more variety of clothes options depicting a range of clothing types is a much more appropriate ask.

  • It does represent her skeleton, though.
