New Weapons

  • Yes, Ik we have 4 main weapons, which some believe is plenty enough, but I believe a few extra could spice things up a bit. And, this topic has been done to literal death, but nevertheless, I will speak my mind.
    For example:

    • the rifle (long range weapon with no scope, basically eye of reach with flintlock scope, not same damage as eor)
    • axe (already in an emote, and was said to be a "new weapon" in its description)
    • portal cannon (yes, ik this is crazy, but it doesn't have to be in the weapon chest, just a weapon you could get from a boss fight or in a vault)

    Ok, there aren't many other weapons you could add, but still, the main one I would want is a eor with NO SCOPE. Just give me a regular rifle. I'll literally take a musket with a slow reload for authenticity.

  • You need a purpose for a weapon, that doesn't already exist. EoR is the rifle of course. But it would be very cool to have an EoR without a scope. No need for damage changes as this would be a PvE weapon choice anyway.

    A thrown weapon could be doable if it can be balanced correctly.

    A "Venom" grenade would fit the game perfectly. Like PERFECTLY.

  • I love every time I see axes suggested. I agree, though I think of it as more of a tool possibility than a weapon.

    Let us have boarding axes for cutting boards off interior repairs and keep the waters flowing on enemy ships!

  • On the talk of new weapon suggestions, how about daggers? There could be some pretty cool dagger designs, maybe a Order of Souls one? Reapers perhaps? I think the only downside would be that it'd may have a short melee range. But it could be pretty cool.

  • @nicktheriolu662 that is very true, since there are models anyway, I don't see why you couldn't use one.

  • @rikjaxx Really, a musket is what I'm wanting. Basically a rifle, but a slightly longer reload, or literally just add the EoR without the scope and call it a day, which I wouldn't mind.

  • I don't think we need any new actual weapons. They simply would be too niche or too similar to whatever that exists now, so inevitably something will become obsolete. Like if Rifle would end up being better than EoR because it deals more damage or it would work as essentially a big flintlock with same effective range, but bigger damage or if "Axe" would be only good in PvP when you try to overwhelm your opponents with 2-3 man boarding without even trying to best them in naval etc,etc.

    The good way is to simply make more creative skins. Crossbow EoR, Axe skin for a sword, etc. Would be nice if some unique skins even had special animations or sound effects, as long as they are still distinctive enough to understand what is going on. I would love if we could get two daggers instead of a sword with a unique set of animations as some kind of a rare skin.

  • @captainshark340 honestly, that's what I'm saying. There are literally rum bottles in the game. I just want to be able to drink from the bottle. That would fit the roleplay so well.

  • I think a "rifle" would be cool.
    However it would have to be sufficiently different to justify it's existence.

    I'd suggest a quick reload weapon that kills in 4 or 5 hits and only has 5 bullets. (If you fill up on bullets mid-way you'd still have a big reload after 5 shots).
    That way it'd reward players who are able to hit multiple shots in a row.

    This would have to be balanced around the time if takes to kill someone hitting both double gun shots.

  • @epitafffio not the EoR, but an ACTUAL crossbow, with its own ammo and stuff

    I like the skins idea. Just look at the new sawbones sword or the spatula. It is clear they have become increasingly inventive on how a skin can alter appearance but maintain functionality. I think swords do it easiest. When changing a pistol to, say, a crossbow, the animation would potentially have to be altered. That is probably where the hangups would occur.

    Oh, same. I think everyone would love to see some new weapons and such. I suppose my point was that I am happy I can at least look like I am using the weapon I want (rapier, personally) at this time.

  • @capn-cayde Well, we have the rapier, just as appearance, which sucks, but at least we have it. Just more like firearm weapons would make me happy. Anything long range.

  • Perhaps a Pike? It is long range mele, so you don't have to get too close to anyone while boarding a ship.

  • @tangotime8578 that would honestly be pretty sick. Would also fit with the kind of “royal” stuff
