Chest of Thousand Frogs

    Ahoy mateys. Today I will talk with ye about my idea of new legendary chest, which will grab the attention of all pirates, Chest of Thousand Frogs.
    Chest of Thousand Frogs will be a legendary chest, which will look like Chest of Thousand Grog ( a barrel shape), which will have a Frog head and will be cursed with Siren Curse. Also if you listen closely, you will hear a squeaking of thousand frogs inside.

    To find such chest you will need to look for Message in the Bottle with Frog seal on it.
    The Bottle will containe one of the following:

    • An X mark the spot map
    • A drawing of chest with coordinates of the shipwreck
    • A quest leading to Siren Shrine or Treasury
      Such chest can be sold only for two fractions:
    • Sovereigns
    • Hunter Call
      Depending to whom you sell it will depend how much ye will get:
    • Hunter Call (25 - 250 Ancient coins);
    • Sovereign ( 1,000 - 2,000 Ancient coins).
      Such chests are very rare, the chance that ye will find one equals to chances of encountering the ancient skeleton. But if ye lucky, ye can even get 2 of them at the same time/from the same message on the bottle.

    P.S. There can be few bottles on the same Sea (Server).

    @selgewick while it's funny. I'd rather it just be a funny chest. I think ancient coins for it are a bit much, would need to be super rare for that.

    I think as a hunters call item it's funny.

    Less Rare, doubloons instead of AC. Get more selling it to Hunter's Call instead too.

    I like the idea, but I'd like to suggest a few changes as constructive feedback:

    A: It should be different than the Chest of a Thousand Grogs:
    It should be functionally different. I do like the idea of hearing croaks and chirps when you jump with it. Perhaps your jump height is doubled, or you get a double jump while carrying this chest, and it occurs randomly? That would be a fun added feature. Jumping would not work, obviously, in the water. All of these chests in the same category are typically cursed somehow. So it needs to be less than ideal to bring upon your ship. I think that if it jumps at random, it should jump at random while on your ship, as well. And where it should jump to, is towards water. If it's actively jumping on the ship to try and escape and jump into the ocean, I think that would make it more worthwhile to grab for the money.

    B: It should not reward Ancient Coins:
    Ancient Skeletons already serve the same purpose, and I think it'd be more worthwhile to add a new cursed chest to the game that's more commonly occurring than an Ancient Skeleton. Ancient Skeletons already drop anywhere from 100 - 800 Ancient Coins, so that's good enough. For this, it should either turn in for gold (or maybe doubloons? if we have more items for a doubloon sink?), depending on how much trouble it is to retrieve and transport. I think it should be worth a lot, and my reasoning is listed down in Point D.

    C: It should turn in to the Gold Hoarders, Sovereigns, or Hunter's Call
    Sovereigns and Hunter's Call are solid picks to have a frog themed chest to turn into, but at the end of the day, it's still a chest, which means the Gold Hoarders will want it. I think it should be higher value to turn into Hunter's Call, personally, because they do not get enough loot or things to turn in to them. It would be a fun alternative for them instead of just fish, cooked meat, gems, and treacherous loot.

    D: Something more perhaps?
    I'm of a mind that this chest should be more of a pain, or more dangerous, to transport, somehow. Frogs are associated, in some cultures, as a symbol of greed. I think that it would be interesting if the chest has some kind of detrimental cursed effect more than the basics, just for pursuing it. Perhaps, the likelihood of enemies or emergent threats is higher while carrying this chest? Or perhaps your ship has a higher likelihood of sustaining bigger tier holes when it's damaged? I didn't have a solid idea for this section, because I'd like to hear everyone else's thoughts. But I do think this should actually be a, "only the greedy will truly want to take this chest" sort of situation.

    @thelostsentinel A poison affect perhaps because there are frogs when you touch them you will die from the poisonious skin so maybe when you carrying this chest it gives off the effect you have when a snake bites you and will blow up like chest of rage but instead instantly goes away but anyone near it will get the effect. Sea of thieves is full of danger and a chest full of frogs does sound dangerous

    Could the Frogs perhaps escape from the chest?
    So, similar to how the Rage/Crying Chests chuck a tantrum, then return to being a chest doing nothing, I'm thinking during this short period of time, frogs of different colours, escape at a rapid rate, forcing you to put them back in. Should you return all the frogs to the chest, max value for the chest. If not the Chest isn't worth much when you sell it.

    I think that this should be cursed chest!

    It would restric your movment on land to just jumping and each jump would be higher than previous.
    So player must drop chest for a second to avoid fall damge from to high jump. Or use it for some sick jumping scheningans.

    It cloud drop at random from mermaid statues, bring some solid Hunters Call Rep if selled on sea post.

    Definitly should make as much froggish sound as it can. For me best would be sound of lakeside full of frogs in the summer eaving.

    There schould be commedantions for selling it and it should avard you some cosmetics inspired by "Muppet Treasure Island" ;)

    @thelostsentinel I like your ideas. Jumping chest, sounds fun. About price, I am thinking about it, haven't decided it yet, but I will increase a price for selling it to Hunter Call.

    @captain-coel I am thinking about changing the price from Ancient coins to dobloons and increasing the reward you get from Hunter Call. However, I would like to have it as a treasure for given fractions:

    • Hunter Call
    • Sovereigns
      Since it is a Chest of Thousand Frogs, inside you will find...Frogs.
      For Hunter Call, it's a chest full of meat, and for Sovereigns, it's a chest full of rare delicacies from their cuisine.

    @selgewick Plus you know when you hop around when you block and jump at a direction? So imagine that but its random and its constant. Would be good so you can just swim to sell it because you won't jump all the time. I think this would be the curse Rare would add if they added this chest

    Sounds fun, but throwing a Jellyfish and having it stick to your opponents face is more fun :)

    @ghutar Aye, that's good idea, I like it. But, instead jumping all the time I would change it to jump in different directions every 5 sec while carrying it.
