There really, REALLY needs to be a mode with no PvP, or some sort of option to play without any PvP because it's incredibly infuriating for people who want to enjoy the game without combat to have to tolerate being trolled and harassed. There is an overwhelming amount of people who will chase for absolutely no reason and either camp on your ship to repeatedly kill you without bothering to sink you. There are people who will camp out near world events like the Fort of Fortune just to completely screw a crew that has spent all the time to defeat the fort and it's completely unfair considering you cannot get some of those items anywhere else in the game, such as the Chest of Fortune. There's no reason why there can't be an option for people who just want to enjoy the game and try to earn achievements without having to worry about being destroyed even when they have JUST STARTED PLAYING. Set a minimum time requirement for people to be able to engage in combat after someone has just spawned in. Create a mode where there's no PvP for people who just want to mind their own business and complete voyages instead of having to constantly forfeit them because other players choose to abuse the PvP combat. ANY solution at this point is better than the way it is currently.
Non PVP Options Needed
You and many others brother but there are alot of degenerates who prefer it the other way. im really pushing for anything that would help with this too, its incredibly frustrating that you can't just play the game without other PvP players ruining the game for you, PVE lobbies where cannons dont damage ships would be amazing, I'm getting so sick of having to sail into the wind to get away and waste so much time so that i can carry on with what i was doing. The game is really fun, beautiful amazing soundtrack, everything in it is so cool, but it sucks that people are able to ruin that portion of the game. Even an offline server would be better that what the game is now.

... Create a mode where there's no PvP
Try the Insiders build. It's an empty world with almost no PvP at all. The majority of players just time wasting at an outpost, and all the emporium stuff is pretty much free. That's the mode.

Does this mode track progress how do you get it?
Its literally a PvPvE game. Inferring that its unfair is ludicrous, and the game unfolds exactly how the developers want it to.
Honestly, playing games like SoT or Eve Online without other people or without the inherent competition of other players cheapens the experience.
Your achievements have value BECAUSE you had to struggle to achieve them. Do you feel good when you win a game of Starcraft in god mode?
Look at it this way, when you see a ghost/skeleton curse player, or in your case a Fort of Fortune cosmetic player, you immediatly know what it took for them to attain those things. Thats why they have value and prestige.
Does it take too much effort to attain them? Perhaps. Are cheaters a problem, ruining progression for some and cheapening the prestige of attaining these things? Definitely.
But believe me when I said if the Devs gave out free curses to everyone, or made your precious carebear server, not only would your victory be hollow but you'de cheapen and ruin it for everyone who earned those things the hard way.

I don't think anyone said anything bout obtaining curses.. we're just looking for a lobby where we dont have to worry about getting attacked by other players

Once again. Community weekend has brought out new players who just discovered the game or suffer from players collecting loot in a. Pirate game.
Sigh…
Nah dude i pre-ordered the game before it came out years ago. I came back to find out it still has the same [mod edit] people who are in it to ruin peoples fun instead of obtaining their own loot, i guess pve is too hard for them so they have to go after other sloops while they are in galleons to try and earn any gold.
Hi all, here are the teams thoughts on PVE/PVP: Given the debate surrounding PvE vs PvP has been going for some time, the team wanted to address it, laying out our vision and the design intent of the game. Sea of Thieves at its heart has and always will be a shared-world adventure game, and this is something that is not planned to change in the future.
In Episode 2 of the Sea of Thieves Official Podcast, a nuanced discussion surrounding the community debate took place with a number of the senior team involved in the creation of the game.
With our position on this topic now clear, the discussion surrounding PvPvE is no longer relevant and we ask that users do not repeat post about this topic as any following this thread will be removed and may result in action being taken against offending accounts. If future developments in the game warrant new discussions, then we will of course open this up for the community to freely discuss. If this happens then any such conversations will be closely monitored to gather feedback, but will in no means be an opening for personal attacks to take place again. That being said, we will be dropping anchor here.
