Bring back 6 ship skeleton fleet for any crew size!

  • Okay, I get it. You want to make events easier for solos and duos, I'm not against it. What I'm against is TAKING AWAY MY LOOT!!!
It's obvious that the more ships in the fleet, the more loot you'll get. For any other world event, after adding crew size scaling, the loot count is always the same. It doesn't matter if you're solo, or on a galleon. But it is not the case for skeleton fleet.
My main concern is that now it'll be much harder to get the "Legend of the sea of thieves" and 300 barnacle chests commendations. They weren't easy before, but now it's ridiculous for sloop players. I'll better clean full 6 ship fleet solo than clear 2 different fleets, cause of the wait time between the same event types.
My suggestion is: bring back 2 skele ships in one wave, and make that the only ship type that spawn for 2 man crew is the skele sloop. Except for maybe the boss ship, so it'll be 2 sloops for the first wave, 2 sloops for the second, and gally and a sloop for the last wave.
For brigantine it'll be one sloop and one gally in each wave, and for gally it'll be 2 gallys. Seems fair for me.

  • @krashman-sanjo I can see you’re a member of insider. There was multiple times the chance to feed this back, and if you had, before it’s release. Rare obviously disagree.

  • Or they could just adjust it so that always the same amount of loot spawns? So if a solo sloop would do it, the boss ship would not only drop it's own loot, but also the loot of every 'missing' ship?

  • What are they dropping for a solo?

  • @krashman-sanjo It's a good idea. I like it. The naval battle will be more intresting and remain fair for ship size and gaming style. Also, I want to say that I have posted a topic, called "Stargazer Voyage", which if added to the game, by and by, will make achieving your achievement more easier. If you interested and want to know more details, have a look.

  • Alright, I did a few to test it out

I've done probably 2500 solo fleets over the years, I've done at least 1 but typically multiple fleets nearly every day for years. I liked the challenge and I like chaotic pve/pvp combo scenarios.

The fleets are obviously easier now and less ships for solo but the loot for time is comparable and the boss loot is still alright.

    Important points
Fleets regularly involve multiple ships so these fleets are going to be mixed depending on the server.

Fleets were regularly half done or mostly done by time a crew showed up to do them anyway. Some fleets were new and 6 ships but many were 1,2,3,4 ships

Fleets have been terribly buggy for multiple seasons which has had them in a very inconsistent state anyway, often despawning the ships over and over, having them act odd and evasive which slowed things down, etc

    Overall

I'll personally miss the higher difficulty but I think it's fine for the environment and will lead to more people doing them regularly with the qol changes. The loot isn't as extremely awesome as it was but it's also not bad at all. It makes the world event more inclusive which means it will get done more.

The challenge in fleets largely became the pvp during the fleets which will still be a thing. Pve even when chaotic like fleets still becomes routine with experience, the pvp is what adds the challenge. They are still challenging enough for a solo that they can use them for naval practice.

2 sloops 2 sloops 1 galleon would be preferred but I don't think it's necessary to keep it a quality event for sloops/solos

  • I did a few more. It just runs more consistently for a solo which makes it much more efficient and higher quality overall. The loot for time of an efficient solo fleet is just better than a solo vs an inconsistent original fleet which goes a long way for an organic play solo. The time spent not dealing with a poorly performing fleet can easily be spent making up for the fewer ships with other skelly ships on the server.

It's different and to some (including myself) that's a bittersweet feeling but it's pretty solid for the casual players, less experienced players, and other people working their way up through commendations and treasure/gold grinding.

I wouldn't make any significant changes to the current design, I think it serves more players than it doesn't, especially 5 years in.

I think more will at least be attempted overall. I think the piles of supplies earned through pve is better for the environment than no investment supplies.
