Crewmates pay to repair ship

  • Add a feature to allow crewmates also to be able to pay and repair ship at the shipwright and not just the captain on a captained ship

  • For a gamemode where you are expected to have hundreds of matches or even thousands. One should not spend gold/have cooldowns on repairing or spending so much time resupplying. It's such a chore and not fun at all. It really adds nothing to the game mode.

Design flaws should be fixed instead of worked around by making players do this nonsense. I don't know how much I have earned exactly, probably 1-2m from hourglass in past few days, but I spent probably 200-400k, could not repair my ship for hours and spent at least couple of hours just running barrel to barrel. I know it's in the fashion of traditional adventure mode, but making it a difficult chore with restrictions is not the way to go.

  • You guys do know that repairing your ship at the shipwright is only cosmetic right ? At least unless you have active holes or unpatched damage on your ship.

A patched hole is just as good as a shipwright repaired hull

It adds nothing for a gameplay perspective

  • @callmebackdraft We were just having this discussion and probably in the heat of battle forget to check.

So if I have 10 tier 3 holes in my ship and patch them up, the next cannon ball will revert it to tier 1, reducing the visual damage done as well?

  • No. Captaincy was a much begged for "feature" that I campaigned against. Enjoy your monkey's paw curse. Only Captaincy can repair.

    Gold sink.

  • Shipwright Restore is exclusive to the Captain of the Ship because it’s purely cosmetic damage, which the captain has the right to keep if they like the broken aesthetic. The damage does not persist and the ship does not get weaker.

You can test this by shooting your ship, getting tier 3 holes, repairing it, and scraping into an island or shooting where you repaired.

    A cannonball does a tier 2 hole
Scraping into an island does a tier 1 hole

There is no reason for crewmates to have the ability to take away the captain’s optional cosmetic damage.

  • @klutchxking518 Thanks for clarifying this. I knew this was the case before Season 7, but somehow managed to confuse myself due to the price tag of repairing the ship that the shipwright charges. I feel silly now...

It would be a shame if someone blew up shipwrights hut with kegs, wouldn't it...

  • @zig-zag-ltu a patched tier 3 hole will become a tier 2 hole upon cannonball impact, same as with a pristine hull.

    Cannonball makes tier 2
    Chain tier 1
Moest island scrape damage starts at tier 1

  • @crowedhunter

I've long been a proponent of making the persistent cosmetic damage on Captained ships optional. It's not necessary and adds an annoying mechanic to the game.

Leave in where people can repair their ship mid-session for some gold. Fine. That way if they manage to limp into port with no more wood and are bailing like mad they can save their ship. Or if they want to go do some nice screenshots or something you can have a nice looking ship.

However, when loading in to your captained ship for the first time there should be an option to have it repaired for free. It makes no sense that we got a nice clean ship for free each time before season 7, but after buying our own ship suddenly they can't be bothered. Let those who want to keep the scars do so, but for those who don't don't make an unneeded financial burden.

  • @crowedhunter Then you can opt into it and then pay the shipwright. It's that easy! Everyone wins!!

  • Yea, why not?

  • Ahoy maties!
