Bring It On Commendation Question

  • For purposes of the new Bring It On commendation, what is the definition of "a Pirate Legend Voyage"? ("After receiving your Blessing, complete a Pirate Legend Voyage while representing The Guardians of Fortune.")

I received my Blessing and while representing The Guardians of Fortune via the hourglass, in an attempt to earn the Bring It On commendation, completed two Merchant missions (one animal one and one Manifest voyage) and one Order of Souls mission. I was wearing the ghost curse. Although all three voyages are described as "legendary" in the description when purchased from the emissary, none of the three triggered the commendation when completed.

Should I assume that the voyage that must be completed to earn the commendation must be an Athena of some sort -- a Veil voyage, perhaps, or a Thieves Haven run, or some other type of voyage specific to Athena?

If it need not be an Athena voyage, then should my completion of any of those three voyages have worked?

Just looking for advice on how to complete the commendation so that I can sail with those fearsome sails!

I logged a ticket with SoT and was directed to pose this question here.

  • @obscureberry192 It has to be an Athena voyage.

  • Correct, it needs to be a “Pirate Legend Voyage” which means Athena, not captaincy or max level of one specific emissary. You could have legendary voyages and still not be a pirate legends, as the requirement to be a pirate legend is a minimum of 3 companies being 50+ and not just 1 company.

  • I'm miles away from worrying about this one, but rather curious nonetheless

Do you need to activate hourglass and complete the whole Athenas Voyage, start to finish, including digging up Sapphire gems on Thieves Haven?
Would leaving last X of Chest of Legends/Athenas keg and activating the hourglass just before that work too?

Would Finishing the veil and loading up the loot and activating the hourglass just before you put in the last veil stone work?

The first feat seams tedious and quite impossible, while the second one is a lot more reasonable.

  • @zig-zag-ltu
I'm assuming that you can't wait until the last minute to activate the hourglass.

My guess is that one must activate the hourglass before voting on the Athena voyage. To play it safe, we probably ought to wear the ghost curse and raise the Athena emissary before voting and raising the hourglass, too.

I might experiment with this soon and if I get any clarity I'll report back.

  • @obscureberry192 Good luck with that mate, doing a 3 hour voyage while waiting to be invaded seems impossible. I mean for best players in the game on a galleon, yeah sure why not. Imagine running around on the top of thieves haven as a solo slooper and getting invaded. Your ship will be on the bottom of the sea before you ever get there.

I think it would make more sense, especially for a commendation that's called 'Bring it on'' to just complete 1 map, for example 1 riddle, a skelly crew, X marks the spot instead of a whole voyage.

If I am talking nonsense, I want a video of the best in game Rare employee pulling this off. ^^

  • @zig-zag-ltu
100%, Zig Zag. That was exactly my worry -- having to complete an Athena mission with an hourglass target on your back the whole time.

But good news! I can now confirm from personal experience that it is sufficient to simply raise the hourglass moments before digging up the Chest of Legends.

I ran an ordinary Ashen Athena voyage in the Devil's Roar. Just before digging the final map, I raised the hourglass. After I dug up the Athena and the 'Voyage Completed' graphics ran, I got the Bring It On commendation. I was wearing the ghost curse the whole time and had the Athena emissary flag raised all the while. I don't know whether those are necessary conditions or not; I took no chances there.

So -- a pleasant surprise. And now I can go buy those sails!

  • @obscureberry192 nice one dude, good to know!

  • @obscureberry192 awesome i decided to search this up and see this! Decided to run an ashen athena as well and it worked like a charm. Purchased the sails! Was slightly disappointed that the green hourglass on the sails don’t glow in the dark however, like the normal ghost set sails. Oh well! They still look clean in the sunlight

  • @ckchaoss Weird coincidence, I too just looked for this information today and noticed that the thread isnt even a day old at this point.

Im not sure if this mechanic is intentional by Rare, as you need to have the Reapers mark up, all the time for "Cursed Voyager", so maybe they will patch it in the future.

  • @piotrek9t yeah, hopefully not, but if not, get it done while you can! I can’t imagine the pain of invades during an athena.
