I've only been playing for a week now today. I'm almost pirate legend, I have my gold hoarders at 50 , 34 on Merchant Alliance, and 31 on Order of Souls.. what are some techniques/ strategies to help boost my last 2 emissaries quicker?
*I've bought a Brig and Sloop as well already

For merchant, the best way (I think) is doing the voyage where you need to find the shipwreck of a merchant ship. You'll get some loot on the way, and when you find the key to the captains cabin you get tons of loot for the merchant. Also, this is one of the two things that are actually fun on Merchant Alliance. The other thing I like (and that is very easy to do) is buying the ressources and selling it on other Outposts. (Talking about the normal crates with raw ressources). You really feel like you are a merchant.
And Order of Souls I think the best way is doing some events while hunting for skeletons on islands (Ghost ships are quite fun, but dangerous in many ways).
@wolff-bringer I've done the ghost ships before, got lucky and spawned into a server with 2 people almost done with it.
Thanks for for advice I think I'll use those merchant techniques today after work! Great community so far, really liking the game
@burnbacon yeah, that's what I was doing at first, until I found out about pirate legend from another player so I've really been trying to grind to get that status. Thanks for the reply!
merchant for sure is shipwreck voyages
souls is one of those things that has so many ways to approach it you gotta pick what you prefer and what is most realistic for you
skelly ships/fleets are good for souls
the roar skelly voyages
ocean crawlers for gems
sea fortsAlways use gems for the factions you need rep with
I would sink skelly sloops and kill captains on small islands while collecting random gems and skulls around
You wanna stay off big islands and away from sitting in one spot too long as it creates more risk of pvp.
Small island hunting and gathering mixed with skelly ships/megs/krakens and grabbing random loot in the water was always my style. I always found it more efficient than voyaging when talking about souls specifically
Kill megs if you see them and krakens, they are the only pve that can drop high quality loot sometimes other than world events
You can get stronghold skulls from megs and krakens, you can also get ancient bone dust for your merchant.

Just keep playing. Don’t worry about doing it quickly. It all comes to you when you stop focusing so hard
This x1000. I think too many players get so fixated on I must do this. I must do that in as quick time as possible. They really do miss out on what the game has to offer.
I’m not quite as close to Pirate Legend as you, though not far behind at all. Yet I’ve been playing since 1 week before season 8 dropped. I play just to have fun without focussing on goals too much. I’m having a lot of fun playing, even when I get killed by squeakers. 🤣
@pumpa-cat i only got fixed on the pirate legend Because all the teams I've played with and against gloat about how they have it and I don't. So been grinding 6-8 hours a day to get there . But I agree the game has so much more to offer , I got my wife playing now as well and we have blast playing together on the sea
@sirblaz3d Fastest way to rank OOS is get to grade 5 once with quests of your choice, then start doing the emissary quests, which should allow you to regrade to 5 each time you do them (lower and raise flag after you get the quest), and get another emissary quest. Someone may come along and ruin the cycle for you, but it's the fastest, if you can get away with it or fight off interlopers. Merchant, just do shipwrecks.
I wouldn't be too concerned about players gloating about PL, tho.
@ihiate haha thanks ! So the pirate legend isn't really that important in the community other than getting access to the pirate shops and earning things as you rank up?
@sirblaz3d Be careful about grinding. Once you get there you will find it was not worth grinding for. The game does not change much at PL. If you just enjoy the journey then reaching PL will not be a disappointment.
@ghostpaw Well, it let's you buy LotV voyages, which are by far and away my favorite PvE content. Everyone's tastes are different, though.

The issue comes down to whether or not you want to solo and make progress, find a crew that might help you gain progress as you crew with them, or relying on Open Crew to get your levels which is, uh, not recommended. PL is attached to a lot of expectations of random players in order to crew, especially on Xbox LFG.
When I first joined and only used Xbox LFGs instead of Discord, I either got stoners for crewmates, or the occasional "Pirate Legend" to take me under their wing for like a voyage or two until they just left. Most lfg crews either wouldn't let me in due to them being on Controller-only servers, or requiring PL for whatever it was they were planning to do.
I don't blame anyone for rushing PL, it feels like a requirement in order to "have fun" with the game if you feel like actually doing something, even when nothing is actually happening.
@nex-stargaze hey now I'm a stoner and play the game quite well for only a week in 😂 but I get what you're saying 💯
