High ping? Try This!

  • I made a post complaining about high ping spikes being more worse than usual and I have seen a few others too.

Ping occasionally spiked from 30-80 to like 300-800 etc. Checking your internet no issues. Hardware fine etc etc.
Play other games, no ping all good etc.

After digging into the guts of the internet i seen a post on this very forum made a few years ago from someone who has exact same issue but offered a fix that worked.

Now before I begin, I am no computer guy.
I have no clue at how or why it works but it worked for me! So i feel its my duty to share incase others like myself have issues.

    POTENTIAL FIX

In my instance. I had mozilla firefox open in background. No web page, but just active on my hotbar.

I actually uninstalled it completely and cleared my cache and cookies using disk cleanup.

Jumped back into SOT and didnt even get a single stutter nevermind a ping spike.

Totally bizarre, no clue why it worked but it did!

Give it a try if you are having these issues and report back.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  • Do you use Mozilla VPN?
    Would definitely cause high ping.

  • @scheneighnay I have Mozilla VPN yes but i always make sure its deactivated for gaming.

  • Any thing that is connected to the internet can cause your ping to go up.

Just like running other programs at the same time will do the same to your processor/memory.

  • Window key + D and then go back to your game. Minimize or close everything you aren't actively using.
