Same Faction Battles

That sounds like a bug to me, i would assume it would count as a win but just didnt for some reason.

@lorrainethepain you didn't get the win credit for your streak? When we were sinking same faction ships last night they increased the win count for streak and gave exp. They didn't count for sinking ship commendations because they are the wrong faction.

This is deliberate so crews aren’t unfairly farmed for reputation by the winners. This was changed with the latest patch yesterday.

Personally, I hate the same faction battles. I understand why it was done. It gives us more matches but certain commendations require us to sink the opposite faction.

Since you sunk the same faction, it doesn’t count. The same thing is true for certain trinkets aboard a captain ship. You can’t progress certain trinkets if you fight a same faction ship.

I’m a completist. I want to complete every single Sea of Thieves commendation. It will take time to complete all of the new faction commendations but now it will take longer because I have to fight the same faction and it won’t properly track my progress

I just wish they would add something to opt out of same faction fights. I would gladly wait alot longer to be against a opponent that counts on coms.

They should separate the two factions from the Athena/Reaper as they are already factions of their own. Now during the battle the other ship would not necessarily need to appear as a representative of opposing faction, however, if this would be possible would be even better. And you would earn the XP, wins and rewards as intended originally.
