After 83 levels im spent. So im trying to throw matches. Its proving difficult. People just wont let me throw. They board and sail me out. Even when I offer them fish. So its better to let them get a couple shots in my hull for insurance. Be a nuisance and see if i can sink them while bucketing. This way i get xp no matter what.

yeah, barely fighting will likely have better results than not fighting at all
the fact that we are this far into the season and they didn't just start giving all participants rep was a mistake imo
Not only is it running people off from the content it's not making pvp have a good look when people are intentionally getting camped and sailed off specifically so people don't get rep
People throwing fights isn't a bad look, intentionally trying to ruin people's experience is.
The people throwing are getting frustrations about matchmaking taken out on them and it's unacceptable imo. They have nothing to do with matchmaking issues/wait times.
The made it so people drop barrels now, there is nothing to get huffy about over people throwing fights, it's an easy supply run.

I just didnt initially plan for how petty the community is. I wasn't expecting to try hard at losing on purpose lol.

it's not everyone but it is definitely common to find.
but this one is on the devs, there needed to be support for inexperienced participants implemented as soon as it became clear that people regularly were getting camped just to prevent rep.
They regularly try to bring down the camping in the game but unfortunately many of their decisions have unintentionally lead to more of it.
Just the wait times alone warrants rep, even people tanking fights have been going through that.
I mean, if you're having trouble throwing matches... you could try and do a bit of fighting? At least show you're trying so your enemies don't get ticked off they waited for 20 minutes just to not use much of their cannons on someone who doesn't want to fight in the mode designated for fighting.
It's okay to take a break from S8's content, you can come back later when you're in the mood for fighting. It's not that okay to throw matches for grinding, you can upset your opponents who are looking to participate fairly that way.
@wolfmanbush This feature is already over for "inexperienced participants", there are none in the Q and any new player who tries won't try twice. If you are low level you wait a looonnngg time and then you get a team already in curses and they sail you out.
I don't mind losing, today I even killed someone, once :), but being sailed out is demoralizing.

Huh I just won trying to throw. I boarded someone just as a funny haha and knocked them off. Crashed his boat and he scuttled.

One way of doing it is by crashing in to them, that way they have no option of going on your ship since they also have to repair and once you hit them, sail away keep crashing in to rocks don't let them get away!
But seriously there is something wrong when a player boards your ship, keeps killing you and repairing it while he sails it out of bounds.
If anything i say those players should be the ones that receive nothing.

You'd be surprised how many games I've won ramming the other ship, baiting them into boarding and they sink first. Remember, if you die with a bucket of water, that bucket isn't in your ship. 🤣
@lordqulex Happened to me a couple of times and found it funny because they were actually better than i was in every other pvp thing i tried yet i still sunk them.
With one Double gunner saying "You got lucky sword user" because i got him with the sword. lol

I mean, it's a valid tactic because it works!! I rammed one guy and he hopped onto my ladder. I saw he was wearing the skeleton curse. I literally sat there chatting with him aiming my blunderbuss until his boat sank and he despawned. They are so salty when they get outsmarted because they don't understand strategy and tactics.
@lordqulex We just need to take advantage while we can as i feel once the extremers pickup on a strategy to defeat this, there will be no chance at applying it against them.

I have a friend that I frequently play board and digital games with. He loves war, like, "Conan, what is best in life?" loves war. The number of games I've seen him lose because he wanted to go to war even though he knew it was not the optimal play or was just bored is countless at this point. There will always be a contingent that doesn't pick up on this strategy. They just want to jump on your boat and ferry lock you.
They put their own blinders on. They are just so focused on getting on your boat and sailing you out or trolling you or whatnot that they literally forget they have holes in their boat. They forget when they kill you with a full bucket that their boat is filling faster than yours. They forget that when I ram their side with my bow, they get three holes and I get one. I don't know how large this oblivious contingent of players is, but they exist.

Yeah unfortunately every game that has multiplayer is going to have this. Its happened to me too a few times. They'll get bored after having the curses for awhile and if people dont feed the Troll and just jump servers. Deny them their dopamine hit and they'll claim the game is dead and disappear back to wherever they came from.
@lordqulex Yeah i had a few friends like that and it was not fun when they got in to that mode so i tried to play less and less with them because of that.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think people should be caring about the time you put into this mode because they have their own time to put into this mode as well.
So maybe winning fights like you've been showing might be a good way to make that time of yours valuable!
