Nerf gunpowder barrels and nerf blunder bust

  • I I would go to shoot someone with my blunder buss, and it would tickle them, and then they would shoot me with those in the instant kill me and then, when we were sale, a dude would just blow up a gun powder barrel, and we just immediately think our ship not even give us time to repair

  • Blunderbuss very much works more similarly to a shotgun, where at close range, it should be able to kill a single pirate at full HP in a single shot. Of course, situations related to hit registration can turn that scenario into a lie, and tougher/sweaty players have nearly mastered how to use a blunderbuss in a panic situation (while it also being a dice roll for them because of hit registration).

Gunpowder barrels are bombs. The best place for them usually is not on your ship, and if possible, on the enemy's. If you die to a bomb and sink because of it, I'm not sure what I can tell you past avoiding where the bomb is, and protect your ship from incoming boarders after the explosion, as you will need to repair those holes made by the bomb and not die while repairing them.

  • The blunderbuss has its purpose as a close combat weapon, and is fine as it is.

The gunpowder kegs should perhaps get a little buff if anything, as they are not really used that much anymore. They are dangerous to transport around as they are a hazard for the masts (mainly), and not many use them in combat nowadays. Perhaps a good buff might bring them back.

So in other words, i disagree with OP. Just adding my couple of cents to the discussion. :)

  • @nex-stargaze that the thing was we were right on top of each I shot them point blank and the didn’t die then they shot me and I did

  • I feel you shooting players, is more less come down to “lag” or you missed.

As for kegs (gunpowder). What? How you gonna nerf them?

  • @burnbacon longer fuse

  • @starrynote5290

Pirates can pre-light the fuse on their kegs before boarding to ensure that if they die for whatever reason and the keg doesn't blow up from gunshots/sword swipes, it will be too late to prevent the keg's explosion from happening on the enemy ship, a longer fuse won't make that much of a difference.

That is hit registration. It is a common issue in combat where your gun didn't do the damage you were looking to do under the correct conditions. It makes and breaks fights very often in this game. The devs claim they are making efforts to reduce the chances of hit registration from happening as often as it is, but they cannot fully fix it.

  • Don't touch my bust

So because it worked for someone else but not for you, it needs changing?

Sounds like you've played like one session then come in here demanding the game be redesigned based on your experience 🤔

  • @hiradc one i have played more then on game i just think they should increase the spread of the pellets

  • Given the nature of the game and how the other weapons function it feels weird that a gun that already has good knockback is able to one shot. Either way, TNT shouldn't be nerfed it actually requires a lot of work to get on board with it and place it under deck

Let me be clear: I'm totally fine with the blunder buss doing 99% damage, I just am not sure how I feel about it one shotting entirely

  • @starrynote5290
I had to do some damage testing of gunpowder barrels in the past, I guess it's relevant again:

If you're paying attention to your surroundings, no gunpowder barrel should be getting close enough to kill you (unless in the rare, rare instance that you're on the bottom deck of your ship when a barrel floats up to you). If you're not at full health, that's your fault.

  • @n0soup4u I get it’s a shotgun and it’s gonna do a high amount of damage. I just think that it shouldn’t be so tightly kept together when you shoot cause I’ve seen people nail people with these from a good distances.and one shots them
