Not able to install Sea of Thieves on Windows 11 from the Microsoft Store

  • I have tried almost everything short of reinstalling my windows since I have a lot of games and files I don't want to lose, every time I start the download for SoT it loads for a second, starts downloading, and gives me the 0x80073CF9 error. I have tried troubleshooting on the Microsoft website and on the Microsoft store itself, obviously, its Microsoft so no help there. This issue is persisting for around a year now and it is starting to disgust me that I cannot simply even install a game I paid my hard-earned money for. Anyone have any ideas as to why I have this problem?

  • I’ve no idea why it’s happening but I’m wondering if it’s an issue your end rather than with MS. Though I play on XsX, I have it downloaded on my Windows 11 PC (Microsoft Store) and have no issues whatsoever in downloading it.

  • Did you try this?
How do I reset Windows Update Components?

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/971058

Rename the Windows Update components folder.

    a) From Start screen, type cmd. From the results, right-click on Command Prompt and choose Run as an Administrator.
    b) Type "net stop wuauserv" and press Enter.
    c) Type "rename c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution softwaredistribution.old" and pressenter.
    d) Type "net start wuauserv"and press enter.

Now try to download apps from Windows Store.

    Hi
Have exactly the same error. It says, something was not compatible with the windows 64 bit version (but I can‘t imagine somebody still running it on 32 bit)
