I kind of assumed they did this anyway, as in my years of playing I've never woken up at an outpost and found every barrel empty. Literally every one of them. I was awestruck, truly. Someone must have just arrived, looted with a storage crate, and dove to invade.
Like I said, I assumed the barrels got filled with stuff when you wake up at an island and lo, I was wrong. Sounds likes a QOL improvement if this happens to a lot of people.
All barrels reset every 30 minutes from the creation of the server. They’ve been like that for years now. You must have just gotten lucky not to spawn in at an outpost that wasn’t already looted by a previous spawn or passing crew.
I do think with the constant server hopping/merging that season 8 has introduced, they need to rethink supplies a little bit. Maybe that’s one reason they upped the starter supplies a couple weeks ago? To make up for the empty barrels that are more common now.
Another problem that has emerged is getting put back on your original spawn server after losing a fight in an invade. The supplies are still locked to you and you can’t purchase again until the timer is over(2 real world hours).
